? Are able to work in office (Sherwood Park) full time as a company employee
? Have extensive General Contractor/ Construction bookkeeping experience
? Ideally have a finance diploma or a bookkeeping certification
? Have extensive QBO experience with various integrations (Ideally: Telpay, Procore)
? Are able to problem solve app integration or other sync issues with QBO.
? Excel at data, formulas and Excel! You know macros and easily learn new skills as you go.
? Have worked with Prime Contract and Commitment holdbacks
? Have worked with intercompany transfers, journal entries.
? Have checklists for reconciling and ensuring month-end accuracy and completeness. When you find discrepancies, you can typically solve them in a way the accountants approve.
? Can explain when and why different types of accounts are used such as liability/ amortization.
? You can explain how you strike balance between 'accurate/ detailed' with 'efficient/ timely'
? You know the joys, pains and nuances of 'Cost Plus' vs 'Fixed Price' invoicing.
? Have created customized reports in QBO and other applications. You are comfortable working on project financial information and reports in other programs and amalgamating data.
? Can demonstrate understanding of a bookkeeper's role in CRA compliancy, job costing, forecasting, strategic planning, client and vendor relationships, risk management, security and privacy
? Are proactive in financial and cash management and keep the management team apprised.
? Have a working knowledge of accounting principles, financial statements, and accounting systems. You know how/ when to file GST, provincial tax, WCB returns and more.
? You utilize tools to ensure tasks and details are executed. You have systems for tracking irregular and recurrent tasks, so nothing is missed.
? Love problem solving and get excited when you can find a solution
? Had different colored pens for the notes you took in school. You feel accomplished when documents and files are formatted correctly with proper capitalizations, spacing etc.
? Have experience implementing new apps/ programs and setting up processes for a group. You like to automate as much as possible and like to figure out new things.
? Thrive in an energetic, busy, quickly evolving environment. You contribute in your own way to the fun energy of accomplishment. You do not find it overwhelming, even if priorities change.
? Crave efficiency. You use tools such as email rules, custom dictionaries, etc. to get rid of repetitive tasks.
? Know it would be a breeze for someone to take over your role with how well organized you are.
? Have an Entreprenurial spirt and are happy to look for ways to help and make things easier for others even if the task is not specific to your role.
? Can de-escalate vendors/ clients, etc even if you can't give them what they want.
