Job Description


Robert Half is looking for a Full Charge Bookkeeper for a company in the Oil & Gas industry. If you multitask effectively and have strong communication, organizational, and time-management skills, this opportunity with growth potential could be a great match for you! In this position, you will prepare financial statements; establish and maintain the accounting principles, practices, procedures, and initiatives of the organization; and handle all other general accounting and bookkeeping functions. Based in Hamilton, Ontario, the Full Charge Bookkeeper role.

Your responsibilities in this role

- Filing documents to maintain historical records

- Assembling the trial balance and financial statements, including balance sheet and income and cash flow statements

- Ensuring monthly, quarterly and year end close happens accurately and on time

- Processing accounts payable and accounts receivable, including collections

- Performing reconciliations for bank and general ledgers, as well as payroll processing

- Studying and implementing federal, state, and local legal requirements, filing reports, and communicating with management on needed actions

- Following progress of fixed assets to prepare depreciation schedules

- Managing accounting clerks and entry-level bookkeepers
- Aptitude for analyzing financial data and generating accurate reports in a timely manner

- 2+ years of relevant experience in bookkeeping

- Prior experience with Excel, Quickbooks, and Peachtree

- General familiarity with Microsoft Excel

- Deep understanding of account reconciliation

- Month end closings experience

- Demonstrated knowledge of ERP Solutions

- Adeptness in payroll

- Solid understanding of Accounts Payable (AP)

- Year end closings experience highly desired

- Command of Accounts Receivable (AR)

- A deep understanding of accrual and cash basis of accounting

- Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision

- Be creative, adaptive, and eager to learn new technical skill sets

- Experience with payroll preferred

- Ability to multitask and communicate effectively with individuals of all backgrounds

- Possess strong organizational and follow-up skills

- High school diploma or equivalent required, and AA degree or higher in Accounting or Business preferred
