Job Description


Robert Half is hiring a Full Charge Bookkeeper for an excellent opportunity with a company in the Oil & Gas industry. To be successful in this role and take advantage of the growth potential, you should multitask effectively, manage your time well, and have strong communication and organizational skills. In this position, you will prepare financial statements; establish and maintain the accounting principles, practices, procedures, and initiatives of the organization; and handle all other general accounting and bookkeeping functions. This is Full Charge Bookkeeper position is located in Hamilton, Ontario.

What you get to do every single day

  • Processing accounts payable and accounts receivable; handling collections as needed
  • Reconciling bank and general ledgers, and processing payroll
  • Ensuring accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end close
  • Overseeing work of accounting clerks and entry-level bookkeepers
  • Retaining historical records through the accurate filing of documents
  • Studying and implementing federal, state, and local legal requirements, filing reports, and communicating with management on needed actions
  • Tracking fixed assets to produce depreciation schedules
  • Preparing the trial balance and financial statements, including balance sheet and statements regarding income and cash flows
Requirements
  • A deep understanding of accrual and cash basis of accounting
  • High school diploma or equivalent required, and AA degree or higher in Accounting or Business preferred
  • Excel, Quickbooks, and Peachtree experience desired
  • Outstanding skills in analyzing financial data and promptly generating accurate reports
  • Flexibility to adapt to changes in procedures and job assignments
  • Ability to multitask, collaborate and communicate well with individuals of all backgrounds in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience with payroll preferred
  • 2+ years of relevant experience in bookkeeping
  • Highly organized, attentive, has a sense of urgency, flexible and able to deal with frequent interruptions and changing priorities
  • Deep understanding of account reconciliation
  • Demonstrated knowledge of ERP Solutions
  • Solid understanding of Accounts Payable (AP)
  • Month end closings experience preferred
  • Adeptness in payroll
  • Year end closings experience
  • General familiarity with Microsoft Excel
  • Command of Accounts Receivable (AR)
  • Can work independently with minimal supervision
