The Hospitality Services department oversees all hospitality operations of the Wilfrid Laurier University Students' Union on the Brantford campuses. Our operations consist of The Belmont and Golden Grounds Coffee House on the Brantford campus. Along with the daily aspects of a restaurant, a variety of catering and special events are held within the establishments. Reporting to the Hospitality Services Operations Manager, and Hospitality Services Brantford Supervisor, you will be focused on the daily Front of House operations within our business establishments on the Brantford campus. To be successful in this role you will need to be highly motivated to work in a fast-paced environment, have high attention to detail, adequate written and verbal communication, time management and organizational skills, as well as exemplify excellent interpersonal skills.
Duties
Operate in accordance to the Vision, Mission, and Guiding Principles, by-laws and policies of the Wilfrid Laurier University Students' Union;
Work safely at all times by following all health and safety policies and procedures
Remain knowledgeable of all applicable departmental and human resources policies and procedures of the Students' Union, and abide by such;
Remain certified and up-to-date in Safe Food Handler training, as well as uphold and enforce all health regulations pertaining to the storage, preparation, and delivery of food and beverage products;
While serving alcohol, protect the establishment and its patrons by remaining certified and up-to-date in Smart Serve training, and adhere to the safe service of alcohol by following all alcohol beverage control policies as outlined by the Alcohol & Gaming Commission of Ontario and the Students' Union, including but not limited to: verifying customer ages prior to serving, and routinely assessing customers to ensure they can safely be served;
Maintain a clean and safe work environment through regular cleaning and sanitation tasks
Ensure the delivery of exceptional guest service through maintaining high product quality and a professional atmosphere in The Golden Grounds, and The Belmont
Restock products throughout the establishment by following proper storage procedures according to first-in-first-out (FIFO), as needed;
Ensure daily prep levels, and all other duties assigned, are completed prior to the end of shift;
Accurately complete cash-outs at the end of shift by reconciling cash as well as debit and credit transactions;
When required, assist with caterings through room set-up, meal preparation, serving, take-down and clean-up;
When required, fill shifts at the Belmont and Golden Grounds; and
And other duties as assigned by the Hospitality Services Operations Manager, or the Hospitality Services Brantford Supervisor
Skills
Experience in food service, restaurant, or food industry preferred
Proficiency with POS systems is a plus
Strong customer service skills with a friendly and professional demeanor
Excellent time management skills to handle high-volume periods effectively
Basic math skills for cash handling and transaction accuracy
Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and proper food handling procedures
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
Kitchen experience or food preparation skills are advantageous
Effective communication skills for upselling and assisting customers confidently

Pay: $17.60-$17.80 per hour
Expected hours: 25 per week
