Job Description

We are seeking reliable and qualified Loader Operators to join our team of experienced winter maintenance professionals (Front End Loader Operators, Backhoes). The selected candidates will operate heavy equipment, including front-end loaders and backhoes, for tasks such as roadway plowing, snow removal, and other assigned duties. Attention to detail, the ability to follow directions, and a commitment to safety are essential. Several positions are available for both "Live-in" operators (reports & lives in the Winter Maintenance Depot for the duration of the contract) and "Call-in" operators (be available through the duration of the contract to report to your assigned Winter Maintenance Depot during winter snowfall events). Candidates selected for "Call-in" positions must be available to report to the Depot 24/7, without exceptions, and be ready to work within 1.5 hours of receiving notification from a text-based dispatching system, which must be actively responded to. Call-in operators will receive a daily standby rate, in addition to an operating rate when called in. This type of work is based on snow events. Call-in operators will be required to fulfill training shifts as required. The standby payment is contingent upon guaranteed 24/7 availability, prompt response to communications (within 15 minutes), and timely arrival when called in for work. The expected end date of this contract is mid March with possible extension to mid April.

Key Responsibilities

:

Operate heavy equipment for winter road maintenance and snow removal. Maintain 24/7 availability for "Call-in" shifts, ready to report within 1.5 hours of notification. Attend weekly training sessions as required.

Skills/Qualifications

:

1-3 years of experience operating heavy equipment, including Front End Loaders and/or Backhoes. At least 1 year of experience in snow plowing (municipal or provincial experience preferred). Ability to follow detailed route maps and use GPS. Knowledge of OHSMS Policies, Procedures, and relevant legislation.

Licenses Required

:

G License in good standing. DZ or AZ license considered an asset.
