We are currently seeking a passionate and enthusiastic French Teacher to join our team and introduce children to the French language through fun and engaging learning experiences.immersion.
Role Overview
The French Teacher will be responsible for teaching basic French vocabulary and expressions (e.g., greetings, numbers, colors, simple songs and phrases) to children between the ages of toddler to preschool (18 months - 6 years). The role involves creating a playful and interactive language-learning environment that promotes curiosity, participation, and early exposure to French.
Responsibilities
Plan and deliver age-appropriate French lessons focused on greetings, numbers, colors, songs, and everyday vocabulary.
Use songs, stories, games, visuals, and interactive activities to make French learning fun and engaging.
Collaborate with classroom teachers to integrate French activities into daily routines where appropriate.
Create a positive, encouraging environment that supports children's confidence in trying new words and expressions.
Adapt teaching approaches to suit the varying developmental stages of children.
Ensure a safe, inclusive, and supportive classroom atmosphere.
Communicate positively with parents and staff about children's progress.
Maintain a professional and collaborative relationship with colleagues, demonstrating flexibility and teamwork.
Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and special events as required.
Qualifications
Proficiency in spoken and written French (native or near-native fluency preferred).
Experience teaching or working with young children (18 months-6 years) in a childcare, school, or educational setting.
Early Childhood Education background (ECE diploma or related training) an asset but not required.
Strong communication skills in both English and French.
Ability to create fun, engaging, and age-appropriate activities for young learners.
Current Vulnerable Sector Check (required).
Standard First Aid & CPR Level C certification (required).
Up-to-date immunization record (including 2-step TB test as per CCEYA).
Energetic, creative, and flexible with a genuine love for working with children.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $28.00-$30.00 per hour
