Free Play for Kids is looking for dynamic Head Coaches to join our Free to Play program on a part-time basis during the 2025-2026 elementary school year. If you thrive on working with children and bring strong leadership and communication skills, we'd love to have you on our team.
As a Head Coach, you'll lead programming at one of 24 elementary schools, creating a fun and supportive environment that goes beyond sport. Each session will blend physical literacy, social-emotional learning, and nutrition education to help children grow both on and off the field.

Education & Qualifications
Working towards or completion of a degree/diploma in Physical Education, Sport & Recreation, Kinesiology, Education, Sociology, Psychology, Early Childhood Education, or a related field from a recognized post-secondary institution.
Minimum 2 years of experience working with youth (e.g., coaching, social work, in-school services, after-school programs, day homes, summer camps).
Demonstrated experience leading or managing a team.
Standard First Aid & CPR certification, or ability to obtain quickly.
Valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle.
Clear, up-to-date Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check.
Multi-sport experience is a strong asset.
Coaching certifications are a strong asset.
Customer service experience and strong communication skills are an asset.
Proficiency with platforms such as Amilia, Connecteam, and Google Suite is an asset.
Key Responsibilities
Attendance
Being responsible for maintaining the attendance list to ensure proper check-ins and check-outs are conducted each day.
Monitoring the attendance for continued absence.
Following up with kids and families who are not regular attendees to ensure attendance or to have them released from the program to offer the spot to another participant on the waitlist.
Curriculum and Practice Plans
Ensuring your team has practice plans for each day and understands the sessions they are delivering alongside you.
Participating in weekly curriculum meetings.
Delivery of Sessions
Coaching and leading the execution of the curriculum and lesson plan.
Supervising all children in the session, ensuring that the Rule of Two is maintained at all times.
Reporting to the Superviso

Checking in with and reporting to the Free to Play Regional Manager to ensure smooth communication.
Providing updates regarding schedule changes, special events, weekly updates, and following up on incidents and behavior challenges.
Involvement in Food to Play
Delivering weekly food sessions based on nutritional literacy
Handing out food hampers to the youth weekly
Bring awareness to the Food to Play program.
Policy and Procedures
Keeping up with policies and procedures to know what to do in case of an emergency, and proper follow-up of incidents.

Position Conditions
This is a part-time paid role (approx. 12-18 hours/week).
Part-time hours during the school year are typically:
Monday-Wednesday & Friday: 2:45 pm - 5:15 pm
Thursday: 2:00 pm - 5:30 pm
Programming occurs in schools and recreation settings (locations may vary).
