Job Description

The Food Technologist will be responsible for supporting the development, testing, and optimization of QCF products, ensuring they meet high standards for quality, safety, and innovation. This hands-on role is essential in translating product concepts into commercialized solutions through effective formulation, process optimization, and technical support.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:



1.

Assist in the development and improvement of QCF products across production lines.

2.

Conduct ingredients, recipe, and production audits

3.

Conduct sensory evaluations, shelf-life studies, and technical analysis of formulations.

4.

Participate in trials and scale-up processes, working cross-functionally with production, QA, and operations teams.

5.

Support the commercialization of new products through recipe development and technical troubleshooting.

6.

Maintain clear communication on trial outcomes and technical recommendations.

7.

Maintain accurate records of product formulations, trial data, and lab analyses.

8.

Ensure all product development activities comply with HACCP, SQF, and regulatory standards.

9.

Lead Continuous Improvement initiatives, including data collection and process optimization.

10.

Provide industrial support to operations teams during commercialization and production.

11.

Investigate, report and make recommendations on technical issues.

12.

Support initiatives for product optimization and cost reduction without compromising quality.

13.

Prepare and package customer samples for product demonstrations and feedback.

14.

Occasionally participate in customer meetings, either on-site or virtually, as needed.

15.

Assist with other duties as assigned.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:



Post-secondary degree or diploma in Food Science, Food Technology, or a related field preferred.

1-3 years' experience in a food manufacturing or product development role.

Knowledge of HACCP, GMP, and food safety regulations.

Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

Good organizational, time-management, and communication skills.

Experience with formulation software or nutritional databases is a plus.

Pastry or bakery formulation experience is considered a strong asset.

Ensure compliance to Quality and Food Safety requirements within the scope of the position.

Experience using ERP (e.g. Aptean, SAP) and Smartsheet systems

Interpersonal Skills:

Work effectively as a Food Technologist with product development team. Must communicate effectively with production and management personnel.

Level of Responsibility:

Responsible for supporting the development, testing, and optimization of QCF products, ensuring they meet high standards for quality, safety, and innovation. Be able to work unsupervised and at times, independently. Should be comfortable providing technical guidance in a production setting.

Decision-Making Authority:

Medium - Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Physical and Sensory Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds.

Working Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required. PPE includes but is not limited to Safety shoes, hearing protection, freezer suit, safety glasses, gloves. Incumbent may also be required to wear hair and beard nets.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $60,000.00-$70,000.00 per year
