The Vermilion & District Housing Foundation (VDHF) is seeking a dynamic, experienced, and resident-focused

Food Services Manager

to join our leadership team at Vermilion Valley Lodge. This full-time position reports directly to the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) and plays a key role in ensuring exceptional dining experiences for the seniors we serve.

About the Role



The Food Services Group Operations Manager oversees the daily operations of dining services, ensures high service standards, supports and mentors staff, and works collaboratively with the Chefs and Food Services Group to provide exceptional meals and dining programs. This role requires a balance of leadership, hands-on operational oversight, and strategic planning.

Hours of work vary based on business and operational needs.

Key Responsibilities



Lead and coordinate daily food and dining service operations. Ensure superior customer service to maximize resident satisfaction. Address resident concerns and respond to feedback professionally. Manage inventory, track supplies, and complete timely ordering. Prepare staff schedules and oversee performance management for dining service staff. Collaborate with the Management Team on food service delivery and special events. Maintain operations within approved budget guidelines. Ensure sanitation, safety, and cleanliness standards are consistently met. Train, mentor, and support new and existing staff. Maintain dining room presentation, cleanliness, and readiness. Uphold all VDHF policies and procedures. Participate in leadership meetings. Complete other duties as assigned by the CAO.

Quality & Service Standards



Ensure dining room cleanliness, organization, and sanitation at all times. Verify proper table settings and dining room preparation. Monitor resident satisfaction throughout meals. Support Quality Enhancement measures through ongoing staff training and coaching.

Leadership Expectations



Lead recruitment, hiring, and onboarding of food services staff. Provide clear direction, coaching, and performance feedback. Communicate resident preferences and feedback to the Executive Chef. Problem-solve and adapt to unexpected operational challenges.

Qualifications



Minimum 3 years of food service management experience in hospitality or retirement living (preferred). Demonstrated leadership ability with experience supervising both front-of-house and back-of-house teams. Strong understanding of large-scale food and beverage operations and budgeting. Knowledge of nutritional needs of seniors. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook). Positive, team-oriented attitude with strong relationship-building skills. Valid driver's license required. Clear Criminal Record Check required prior to employment.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $28.00-$32.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
