Company Introduction: T&T Supermarket Inc. was founded in 1993 with two stores in BC. Since then, it has expanded rapidly and is now Canada's largest Asian supermarket chain with 36 stores across the country: 14 in BC, 7 in Alberta, 13 in Ontario, and 2 in Quebec. The Company's continuous expansion is going to bring more new stores in the next couple of years.
The Role: This role is accountable for the implementation of a broad range of food safety protocols and procedures at the store level. The incumbent also ensures compliance with the company's food safety programs through scheduled visits, training and other measures. The analyst will work collaboratively with the FSQA team, business stakeholders and vendors to ensure brand protection and drive a consistent consumer experience.
• Major Responsibilities: Responsible for the food safety issues at the store level, ensuring that store management and employees understand food safety and the implications, impact on, and importance, to the business.
• Identify and report situations that may compromise food safety and follow up to ensure appropriate corrective action is carried out.
• Assist in the development and implementation of FSQA procedures and programs.
• Collaborate with department heads/store managers to address findings from food safety audits and inspections (e.g., Public Health, CFIA, local health authorities). This includes developing and implementing corrective action plans and monitoring results to identify trends and improve the Food Safety Program.
• Monitor 3 rd party food safety audits and ensure that they are completed in accordance with T&T food safety audit policies. Ensure that all parts of the business meet established standards.
• Assist in investigating and follow-up actions on customer complaints including identifying trends and driving resolution for continuous improvement.
• Responsible for performing vendor assessments and driving corrective action to ensure the capability to uphold company standards.
• Liaise with government inspectors (Public Health, CFIA) as appropriate to address and resolve food safety issues as they arise at the store level.
• Ability to work in a variety of temperature and humidity conditions.
• Reinforce training, knowledge and skills and deliver to Store Managers, Department Managers and other employees as appropriate.
• Perform any other duties as assigned.
• Knowledge, Skills and Ability Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, Public Health Inspection, or other related disciplines.
• Must have a good understanding of microbiology and sanitation principles.
• Knowledge of food safety regulations and quality control principles.
• Auditing experience preferred.
• A self-driven individual and has a high level of pride in their work.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, as needed.
• Excellent verbal and written communication and documentation skills in English.
• Able to communcatoe in Cantonese and/or Mandarin is an asset.
• Flexibility to travel frequently both domestically and internationally.
• Valid driver's license and travel documents required.
