We are also on a bus route, with a stop just outside of the hotel, and are offering shared staff accommodation. Our complimentary shuttle also picks up our employees from the bus loop at UBCO!

Position Summary

As Food & Beverage Manager, you will be responsible for all operations including Gulfstream restaurant, banquets, and Hampton Food & Beverage operations. You will be responsible for overseeing guest and employee satisfaction, maintaining standards and meeting or exceeding financial goals and demonstrate knowledge of food and beverage laws and regulations.

What will you be doing?

You will be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standard:

  • Develops and manages all financial, employee engagement and guest satisfaction plans and actions for Food & Beverage
  • Maintains a positive cost management index for kitchen and restaurant operations.
  • Utilizes budgets to understand financial objectives.
  • Supervises and manages employees. Oversees all of the day-to-day operations and understands employee positions well enough to perform duties in employees\' absence. Manages the schedule of all restaurant staff in conjunction with the assistant manager.
  • Utilizes interpersonal and communication skills to lead, influence, and encourage others; advocates sound financial/business decision making; demonstrates honesty/integrity; leads by example.
  • Creates and nurtures a property environment that emphasizes motivation, empowerment, teamwork, continuous improvement and a passion for providing service.
  • Responds quickly and proactively to employee\'s concerns.
  • Provides guidance and direction to employees, including setting performance standards, monitoring performance and conducting performance reviews on schedule.
  • Participates in recruitment and hiring of all Restaurant staff.
  • Maintains an open door policy
  • Provides proactive coaching and counseling to team members.
  • Encourages and builds mutual trust, respect, and cooperation among team members.
  • Ensures and maintains the productivity level of employees.
  • Develops specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish your work.
  • Provides the leadership, vision and direction to bring together and prioritize the departmental goals in a way that will be efficient and effective.
  • Sets clear expectations with the employees and team leaders and ensures that appropriate rewards are given if expectations are exceeded.
  • Responds quickly and proactively to guest\'s concerns.
  • Understands the brand\'s service culture and complies with all brand standards
  • Complete all brand mandated training as required
  • Takes ownership of a guest complaint/problem until it is resolved or it has been addressed by the appropriate manager or employee.
  • Provides services that are above and beyond for customer satisfaction and retention.
  • Improves service by communicating and assisting individuals to understand guest needs, providing guidance, feedback, and individual coaching when needed.
  • Assist in other areas and departments from time to time, as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.
What are we looking for?

To successfully fill this role, you should demonstrate the following:
  • Post-secondary diploma/degree in Business or Hospitality an asset.
  • Minimum 4 years\xe2\x80\x99 supervisor experience in a high volume, fast paced hospitality environment.
  • Banquet experience is an asset
  • WSET Intermediate Wine Certificate or comparable not required but considered an asset.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule which includes days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must possess superior verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to demonstrate extreme organization in a fast-paced environment while acting as a team player.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage a large and variable work load, ensuring timely and accurate completion of assigned work.
  • Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Knowledge of When I Work scheduling system is considered an asset.
  • Valid Serving it right credential
  • Valid First Aid is an asset
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada without restriction.
