In 2023, we opened our first international sister location, Silver Springs, a boutique yoga and Pilates oasis in the heart of Los Angeles. Now, we\'re set to launch our second location in Toronto at The Well in fall 2023. About the Role:.

This is an opportunity to become Food and Beverage Location Manager for our new, multi-offering, 27,000 square ft. facility at The Well.

We are seeking a dynamic and entrepreneurial individual to join our fast-growing and dynamic team. You will take ownership of both Tonic Bar, our high-volume smoothie, coffee and snack bar located in the front lobby of our busy and energetic space and Tonic House, our cocktail bar and lounge space which aims to bring the vibes of neighboring King Street West to our membership base. You\'ll play a pivotal role in opening and developing the Tonic House F&B program and play a key role in creating a unique events space, bringing the bar to its full potential.

You are passionate about the F&B industry and bring a variety of industry experience. You will be involved in the early stages of concept development for Tonic House so you can envisage and execute a cocktail menu. You are a seasoned operator who can manage Tonic Bar to deliver continual revenue growth and consistent cost-control using our POS and inventory tools as well as managing a team which delivers consistent high levels of hospitality.

You will continually analyze member feedback alongside data to refine the food and drink menu for both outlets and deliver seasonal changes.

The location manager will play an integral part in growing the newest revenue stream of the business. This role will involve producing SOPs, creating and delivering new menu items and driving the business to deliver and improve KPIs.

This position requires the candidate to work Tuesday - Saturday. The candidate must be available to work weekends and evenings, and occasionally will be required to work events as requested by the F&B Manager. This role involves being on standby for emergency situations as required.

Primary Job Responsibilities

Reporting to the Food, Beverage, & Retail Manager, the Food and Beverage Location Manager will:

  • Play an integral part in creating a new and unique drinks menu for the Sweat and Tonic Front/Spadina (The Well).
  • Help envisage and deliver the overall strategy for Tonic House including all aspects of the experience including food offering, music and ambiance, one-off and recurring nightly themes to include DJ, drinks specials and events to support the core fitness product at Sweat and Tonic.
  • Create detailed drink SOPs, training material, and taking a hands-on approach to training the team.
  • Create and build a new team of bartenders and play a role in creating a structured training environment. Become a mentor to a team, of 15+
  • Oversee the day-to-day leadership of the front of house food and beverage operation of Tonic Bar and Tonic House.
  • Oversee all ordering and receiving functions for Tonic Bar and Tonic House at Yonge & Shuter, maintaining stock availability, whilst ensuring waste is minimized.
  • Deliver key Tonic Bar metrics - working closely with the F&B Manager in achieving weekly gross margin, labor and waste metrics.
  • Work closely with the F&B Manager to develop new and exciting menu updates, keeping on top of trends, and catering to S&T guests requirements.
  • Work closely with Sales and Events Manager and marketing teams to deliver successful brand partnerships and events.
  • Effectively execute and oversee weekly inventory counts for Tonic Bar and Tonic House.
  • Work closely with your team to ensure waste is minimized and closely monitored on a daily basis.
  • Lead from the front, taking a hands on approach, lead by example, working in front-line positions to impart knowledge and experience of best practices and processes to deliver an exceptional guest experience.
  • Deliver guest experience that exceeds expectations in all product categories.
  • Report weekly on monthly on COG and revenue targets. Develop strategies and initiatives to incrementally improve performance in a timely manner.
  • Develop, train, communicate and reinforce the service vision and standards to team members and coach them in supporting the successful execution of the vision.
  • Consistently display exceptional leadership by providing a positive work environment, counseling team members as appropriate, and demonstrating a dedicated and professional approach to managing a team.
  • Develop inventory management systems and processes for food and beverage products.
  • Demonstrate a high level of commitment to processes that allow team members to provide service that is aligned with our vision of creating exceptional experiences.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including food safety standards .
  • Assist F&B and Retail Manager in merchandising, and restocking of retail offering as requested.
  • Work with the team to perform month-end inventory of retail merchandise.
About You:
  • You\'re passionate about food and determined to play a big role in an ambitious team! You\'re passionate about mixology and have a great knowledge of the Toronto bar industry.
  • You see the parallels of any successful F&B operation and can deliver profitability in Tonic House and Tonic Bar through tight cost control, waste management and high sales.
  • You\'re ambitious to join a new and exciting department, and play an integral part in building a new department within the S&T brand.
  • You\'re a dedicated and passionate specialist comfortable in the day-to-day hustle and bustle of FOH operations as well as proficiency presenting and analyzing numbers and strategy in a management environment.
  • 2-3 years of bar experience is essential, preferably in a cocktail bar.
  • Experience working as a food and beverage leader, preferably within a wellness environment.
  • Food and beverage background with strong focus in food, and development and high level of beverage proficiency.
  • Barista experience and training proficiency.
  • Experience managing teams of up to 15.
  • Brings a hands-on approach to training and a leadership style committed to developing and motivating the team to attain a superior level of guest service;
  • Strong computer skills, with knowledge of G-suite, particularly Google Sheets or Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong problem-solving and creative thinking skills;
  • Thrives in a fast-paced environment-maintaining composure and objectivity with guests and team members;
  • Available to work nights, weekends, and/or holidays as required.
  • A full drivers license is preferred for this position.
