ABOUT THE JOB

The Food Access Coordinator is a key player in delivering food security programs and working with diverse community members and organizations to make a meaningful impact.

They contribute to the growth and success of the Mount Paul Community Food Centre while working to increase access to healthy food in a respectful and dignified way.



Key Responsibilities:



Coordinate and develop food security programs (community meals, food recovery, pantry services, food procurement) Plan and prepare healthy meals for large groups (100+ people) Facilitate food donations, procurement, and recovery systems Train, and manage volunteers to support program needs Collect data and evaluate program outcomes to ensure effectiveness Engage participants and community members in food security activities

EDUCATION, TRAINING, and EXPERIENCE

Diploma in a related field At least 2 years of relevant experience, including community program development, group facilitation, volunteer coordination, and kitchen management. Experience working with vulnerable populations affected by social isolation or poverty. Or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, and ABILITIES

In-depth knowledge of food security systems and issues Ability to plan and prepare large-scale healthy meals Proficiency in promoting programs and engaging with community members Familiarity with relevant community resources, programs, and services. Demonstrated ability to connect with and support individuals from diverse backgrounds with the ability to inspire, teach, and empower positive change. Engaging group facilitation and presentation skills Demonstrated ability to recruit, oversee, and, supervise volunteers Excellent written and oral communication skills Ability to clearly explain instructions and information to others. Effective collaboration and conflict resolution skills and proven ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and partnerships. Strong time management and organizational skills. Strong computer and technological skills, including experience using Microsoft Office programs and online meeting platforms. Demonstrated understanding of public engagement through various marketing channels including social media and websites.

REQUIREMENTS

Valid Class 5 Driver's license (or equivalent) and safe driving record Ownership of a safe reliable vehicle insured with Business Use for $5M liability. (Reimbursement for the costs of additional insurance) Following training is required and provided to the successful candidate free of charge. Existing certification is an asset: CPR-C, Mandt-R, Food Safe, Anti-Bullying, and Harassment, Privacy and Information Sharing Consent to Criminal Record Checks with vulnerable sector search This position requires Union membership with a 1.85% Union Dues deduction from the pay. This position requires the ability to stand for extended periods, walk, bend, crouch, lift and carry up to 50 pounds, and work safely in a fast-paced and physically demanding kitchen environment while handling large pots of hot food and operating commercial kitchen equipment.

STATUS:

Temporary Full-Time

HOURS of WORK:

37.5 hours per week

TERM:

6 months, with possibility of extension.

SCHEDULE:

Monday to Friday, with flexible hours

REPORTS TO:

Director of Community Food Centre

COMPENSATION:

$29.17 - $33.49 per hour (Grid 12 as per collective agreement)
