Job Overview:



As the Trillium Hatchery's Flock Management and reporting Coordinator, you will play a pivotal role in managing the egg flow process and inventory within our hatchery facility. You will be responsible for overseeing the efficient movement of eggs from arrival to incubation, ensuring accurate inventory tracking, and implementing procedures to optimize egg quality and hatch rates. This position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively with various teams within the hatchery and reporting to governing bodies.

Responsibilities:



o Develop and implement protocols for the timely movement of eggs from arrival to incubation, taking into account hatchery capacity and production schedules.

o Coordinate with hatchery staff to prioritize egg setting based on hatchery requirements and customer orders.

o Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and company policies related to procurement practices, ethics, and sustainability.

o Assess and mitigate risks related to supply chain disruptions, price fluctuations, and vendor dependencies through effective risk management strategies.

o Maintain accurate records and documentation of procurement activities, contracts, and vendor communications in accordance with audit and compliance standards.

o Maintain accurate records of egg inventory, including quantities received, set, and disposed of.

o Conduct regular audits of egg inventory to identify discrepancies and implement corrective actions as needed.

o Work closely with the procurement team to forecast egg demand and ensure adequate supply to meet production targets.

o Collaborate with hatchery personnel to monitor key performance indicators related to egg fertility, weight loss, and hatch rates.

o Recommend process improvements to enhance egg quality and overall hatchery efficiency.

o Provide leadership and direction to the egg flow and inventory team, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

o Encourage cross-functional collaboration and knowledge sharing to promote a unified approach to hatchery operations.

o Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers, fostering collaboration and partnership to meet the needs of the hatchery.

o Monitor vendor performance and conduct regular evaluations to ensure compliance with contractual agreements and quality standards.

o Resolve any issues or disputes with suppliers in a timely and professional manner to minimize disruptions to hatchery operations.

o Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and company policies related to procurement practices, ethics, and sustainability.

o Assess and mitigate risks related to supply chain disruptions, price fluctuations, and vendor dependencies through effective risk management strategies.

o Maintain accurate records and documentation of procurement activities, contracts, and vendor communications in accordance with audit and compliance standards.

o Monitor and maintain accurate flock records, including placements, 14-day mortality, movements, flock ends, spikes, and overall flock health.

o Track flock placements, production performance, allocations, and sleeve amounts.

o Create and manage hatch plans based on flock schedules and performance forecasting.

o Report all flock actions to appropriate governing bodies and internal teams.

o Track and manage egg slips, cull data, set entries, hatch results, and chick sales.

o Provide breeder pullet and production reports, along with annual hatchery supply reports.

o Submit accurate and timely data for approved yearly surveys and regulatory documentation.

o Collaborate with industry and regulatory bodies to complete contracts, declarations, quota transfers, flock changes, and other official submissions.

o Ensure all producer and flock data is correctly entered and maintained for compliance and audit readiness.

o Place and confirm flock and egg orders, track deliveries, and manage related communications.

o Prepare flock-related invoices and maintain accurate billing records.

o Update orders based on hatch plans, forecasts, and confirmed sets.

o Maintain a professional and balanced relationship with egg producers, growers, and other stakeholders.

o Serve as a key point of contact for any flock-related inquiries, updates, or reporting needs.

Qualifications:



o Bachelor's degree in poultry science, animal science, or a related field preferred.

o Prior experience working in a poultry hatchery or similar agricultural setting is an asset.

o Strong understanding of egg production processes, including incubation and hatchery management practices.

o Proficiency in inventory management software and Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting.

o Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with internal and external stakeholders.

o Demonstrated leadership capabilities with a focus on team building and employee development.

o Detail-oriented mindset with a commitment to upholding quality standards and regulatory compliance.

Job Types: Full-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 18 months

Pay: From $28.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
