The Fitness Coordinator is responsible for the coordination and delivery of fitness and wellness programs tailored to older adults at the Lethbridge Senior Citizens Organization (LSCO). This role ensures programs are inclusive, safe, and engaging, while fostering a welcoming environment that promotes active living, health, and social connection among seniors.

All LSCO employees are expected to perform responsibilities to meet organizational and funding requirements as directed by mandate and policy.
Programming
Provide one-on-one training and group fitness programs that meet the needs and interests of older adults.
Support the programs department in scheduling and coordinating classes, ensuring a balanced timetable and optimal facility usage.
Lead or support group fitness sessions as needed.
Welcome new and returning participants and offer ongoing support and encouragement.
Foster a positive, inclusive, and motivating atmosphere for all members.
Ensure all programs comply with LSCO policies and safety standards.
Collaborate with other LSCO departments and community partners to promote healthy, active living.
Some evening and weekend classes are required.
Other duties as assigned.
Administration
Ensure fitness spaces and equipment are clean and safe.
Coordinate with the Program Manager when upgrades or replacements to equipment is needed.
Manage class registrations, attendance records, and participant feedback.
Alongside the Program Manager, assist with the marketing and promotion of fitness programs.
Communicate program updates and respond to member inquiries in a timely, professional manner.
Education & Qualifications
Diploma or degree in a Recreation related discipline or a relevant equivalency of education and experience.
Certification in group fitness instruction or personal training from a recognized organization (e.g., ACE, CSEP, CanFitPro) is preferred.
Experience working with older adults and understanding of age-appropriate fitness programming is an asset.
Strong organizational, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends as needed
Current First Aid and CPR training or willingness to obtain and maintain certification.
