We are looking for a Group Fitness Coordinator with strong leadership and interpersonal skills who is reliable, team oriented and has a passion for fitness, health, and getting more people moving!

Overall Responsibility



The Group Fitness Coordinator's responsibilities include supervising all group fitness staff on location, getting to know members and overseeing class scheduling to ensure value and quality for our members and company. The Group Fitness Coordinator will be communicating with, reporting to and working alongside and under the direction of the Group Fitness Director, who oversees the Group Fitness program at all Motion Fitness locations.

Key Areas of Responsibility as Group Fitness Coordinator



Supervise all group fitness staff and ensure they adhere to the Motion Fitness instructor contract, including periodic class audits throughout the calendar year to ensure quality control. Evaluate, coach, and mentor instructors as needed. Work with the Group Fitness Director to help create a group fitness schedule that maximizes participation, member retention, gym profitability and new member recruiting. Manage the group fitness schedule which includes regular updates, ensuring subs are in place for classes needing coverage, or other classes are substituted or cancelled when subs are not available. This will be done using programs implemented by the Group Fitness Director/Motion Fitness. Communicate with Group Fitness Instructors to ensure classes are covered for time off and injuries, and help instructors find last minute subs when needed. Work with the Group Fitness Director to review attendance numbers regularly, supply instructors with ideas/materials to boost attendance, and cancel classes that do not meet club targets. Attract and retain members by working with the Group Fitness Director to keep the group fitness schedule evolving with current trends in the industry and by adding new classes and instructors that will attract new and current members. Help advertise classes through on-site promotions, social media, etc. Keep group fitness equipment organized and check studios weekly, identify equipment that needs to be added, repaired or replaced or any other fixes that need to occur, and notify the Group Fitness Director and facility manager. Discuss issues and concerns from management with group fitness instructors, as communicated by the Group Fitness Director. Regular communication with Group Fitness Director to discuss any member and staff issues and concerns. Address any and all instructor behavior issues in a fair and consistent manner according to established company guidelines. Teach a minimum of two classes on the schedule to establish and maintain credibility with members and staff. Check emails and respond to communication regularly. Up to a maximum of 10 hours per week of coordinator time, open to additional time if needed and approved. Teaching time is in addition to this maximum.

Qualifications



Current First Aid/CPR Certification Current Group Fitness Instructor/Yoga certification (AFLCA, CanFIT Pro, 200hr Yoga certification, etc) Minimum 3-5 years of teaching experience as a group fitness/yoga instructor. Knowledge of the fitness industry and fitness classes would be helpful. Good computer knowledge and proficiency in programs such as Word, Excel, etc. Excellent oral and written communication skills to liaise with management and staff.

Working Conditions



Includes 80% working at a desk in front of a computer. Some lifting and manual labor when cleaning and organizing studios.
