PRIMARY PURPOSE : To provide clients with investigating engineering services related to events, systems, devices, and/or failures, providing expert opinions, and to investigate fire events to determine origin, cause, and responsibility in accordance with assignments from clients or assigned legal counsel. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Accepts assignments from customers for investigation of losses or claims and pursues investigation in accordance with the specific needs of the assignment.
  • Conducts investigations to determine and document the scope of damage.
  • Investigates and assesses damages due to failures and determines the origin of failure for insurers and litigation support.
  • Analyzes and documents the failure analysis and causation of failures.
  • Collaborates with other investigators to produce detailed reports outlining the cause and origin of losses and damages.
  • Serves as a liaison between the insurance industry and law enforcement/fire service personnel.
  • Develops necessary knowledge and expertise required to conduct thorough inspection of available public records including land deeds, mortgages, liens, suits, judgments, marriage and divorce records, etc.
  • Collaborates with EFI Global national team of forensic experts to leverage experiences and assist on projects.
  • Follows industry acceptable methodology for performance of services.
  • Develops and maintains positive relationships with clients, colleagues, subcontractors and prospects.
  • Local marketing and sales activities.
ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Complies with Company\xe2\x80\x99s Safety Programs/Standards.
  • Properly utilizes Personal Protection Equipment.
  • Exercises appropriate use, care, and maintenance of equipment (company owned or leased).
  • Complies with company standards and best practices regarding the storage of equipment.
  • Meets or exceeds productivity levels and daily time submission as determined by manager.
  • Complies with all company policies, programs, and initiatives.
  • All other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS Education & Licensing Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s Degree in Engineering from a recognized university and a Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in the province of the posted position. Those who hold a CFEI, CVFI or CFI would be of high interest for this position. Minimum certification requirement for consideration, Certified Fire & Explosion Investigator (CFEI). IAAI Certified Fire Investigator (IAAI-CFI) certification is preferred. Will be required to obtain the IAAI-CFI certification within 6 months of employment. Experience Minimum of three (3) years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Skills & Knowledge

WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • Travel, at least, 30-40% of the time. Can be local or across provincial boundaries.
  • Exposure to all elements of the weather

  • Occasional lifting, up to 50 pounds, as required
  • 40-60% work in field environment
