Position: Fire InspectorDivision: Saskatoon FireDepartment: Public Relations and Community Risk ReductionTerm: 1 Permanent Full Time position available.Closing Date: 06/07/2024Labour Group: IAFF 80Posting: 3308Job SummaryUnder supervision of the Risk Reduction Officer, this position performs technical inspection, enforcement, cause and origin investigations.Duties & Responsibilities1. Conducts inspections of buildings, structures, and places in an assigned area to identify and locate fire hazards and to ensure compliance with the Fire Department Bylaws, Acts, Codes and other legislation where applicable.
2. Inspects building life safety systems, water protection systems, fire warning systems, fire pumps and other protection systems to ensure compliance with the City Bylaw and National Fire Code of Canada.
3. Issues corrective notices, letters, tickets and orders under the terms of the appropriate legislation and as directed.
4. Supervises the installation and removal of underground tanks in the assigned area.
5. Enters inspection data into the designated software program and electronic filing system.
6. Prepares and provides evidence, appears in court and appeal hearings.
7. Reviews and interprets technical reports and plans to ensure fire protection systems comply with the required Codes and Standards.
8. Reviews and establishes building occupant loads.
9. Provides training and education to internal and external stakeholders, as required.
10. Performs fire investigations as assigned.
11. Performs other related duties as assigned.Qualifications
