The Role:

We are looking for an analytical and detail-oriented Financial Reporting Assistant Manager to join our Finance team.

You will be responsible for the month-end closing process, preparation of financial statements and internal control of all financial processes. By directly supporting the Director of Finance, you will ensure the reliability and accuracy of financial statements, and meet all relevant accounting, tax and reporting standards, both from a regional and local regulatory perspective. Output of your work will be used by the Branch management team to make sound and informed business decisions.

As the Financial Reporting Assistant Manager at Branch, you will be responsible for all duties associated with the accounting, finance, operations, and tax compliance. This is an exciting role for a person who wants to help build and enhance the growth of a data-driven omnichannel e-commerce company.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for leading and coordinating the day-to-day general accounting activities (i.e. recording of journal entries, preparation of monthly account reconciliations, recording intercompany transactions, etc.)
  • Responsible for month, quarter and year-end close processes including journal entries, reconciliations and supporting documentation
  • Prepare monthly consolidated financial statements, supporting schedules and monthly report outs to management
  • Develop and maintain accounting policies in accordance with US GAAP and implementation of changes in accounting standards
  • Preparation of accounting policy memos and assisting in accounting research and analysis
  • Ensure compliance requirements including the external audit, tax filings, and other compliance queries.
  • Evaluate internal controls and recommend improvements to ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial reporting
  • Develop and improve processes, tools and systems to manage reporting for a fast-growing business
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement solutions to increase efficiency and reduce costs
  • Work effectively and strategically with cross-functional teams to ensure all direction, alternatives and decisions have been thoroughly reviewed from a financial perspective.
  • Cross-functional collaboration and fostering compliance with financial policies and controls
  • Facilitate and coordinate multiple reporting deadlines and respond quickly to ad-hoc requests
What We\xe2\x80\x99re Looking for:
  • Professional accounting designation
  • Big4 or similar firm experience in audit is an asset
  • 5+ years professional working experience in accounting or finance functions
  • Experience with US GAAP accounting, audits and board level reporting
  • Ability to assimilate information from multiple sources and drive decisions in the face of ambiguity
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships cross-functionally
  • Possess strong interpersonal, negotiation, and written and verbal communication skills.
  • Process improvement and project management skills and experience.
  • Strong aptitude in leveraging technology to simplify internal processes, minimize manual work and limit delays in processing
  • Extreme sense of organization, with the ability to timely meet deadlines with accuracy and efficiency
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
  • Enjoy hands-on activities requiring a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and/or Google Sheets
  • Experience with Quickbooks, Xero, Sage Intact, or other accounting software
  • Experience with ERP systems implementations and change management is an asset
  • Experience working in an E-commerce/Furniture/Consumer Goods is an asset
