We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Financial Controller to join the Bear Creek Group of companies. In this key leadership role, you will oversee the financial operations of the organization and provide key stakeholders with accurate and timely information, including analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting. The Controller will manage the company's accounting team and functions, oversee budgeting and cash flow, ensure sound financial practices, and maintain strong systems to support accurate and reliable reporting.
Salary range: $120,000 - $175,000 annually, with final compensation open to negotiation based on qualifications and experience.
Duties
Oversee accounting operations, including payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, journal entries, and financial reporting.
Lead and mentor the accounting team, setting priorities and ensuring accuracy and timeliness of deliverables.
Develop and manage budgets, forecasts, and cash flow to support informed decision-making.
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, and coordinate review engagements, compilations, and tax return preparation with external accountants.
Establish and monitor internal controls, policies, and procedures to meet legal, regulatory, and company standards.
Ensure statutory reporting is accurate and timely, including GST, EHT, and WorkSafe.
Provide financial analysis and strategic insights on costing, pricing, and margins.
Coordinate insurance policy renewals and reporting requirements with financial institutions.
Collaborate with other departments and key stakeholders to deliver clear financial insights that support operational decisions.

Requirements
CPA designation with a bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Proven experience as a Financial Controller or in a senior accounting leadership role.
Strong knowledge of corporate accounting, financial management, and Canadian statutory reporting (GST, EHT, WorkSafe).
Skilled in budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and cash flow management.
Advanced Excel skills and proficiency with ERP/accounting systems.
Demonstrated leadership ability with experience managing and mentoring an accounting team.
Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and with external partners.
High attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy in financial reporting.
Assets
Experience with Eclipse by Explorer Software or other specialized ERP/accounting platforms.
Familiarity with insurance renewals, costing, and pricing analysis.
Experience supporting system implementations or finance-related projects.
