Walter Surface Technologies ("Walter") is a privately held industrial manufacturer. Our products are sold in the United States, Canada, Brazil and Mexico. The international head office is located in Montreal, Quebec. Walter's principal investor and shareholder is Onex Corporation through ONCAP. Onex is one of Canada's leading private equity firms. A central element of Walter's corporate strategy is to make strategic acquisitions to further enhance and diversify its product portfolio, strengthen its existing market share and customer relationships, and further expand its extensive distribution network. Walter has recently completed four acquisitions and is actively seeking new acquisition opportunities. Walter is looking for a Financial Controller for its Canadian and U.S. operations. You will be at the heart of the action and have the opportunity to get involved in several files and special projects, including the preparation and analysis of monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports describing the company's financial situation. Reporting to the Director Financial Strategies, the Controller is responsible for the preparation and analysis of monthly financial reports. The incumbent will also be involved in the preparation of budgets, financial forecasts and year-end audits. Possibility of advancement.

Main responsibilities:



Ensure supervision of general accounting, preparation of entries and reconciliations of balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis. Participate in timely monthly and annual closing activities and in the preparation of monthly financial statements for Management. Supervise a team of accounting technicians. Participate in the integration of our various acquisitions at the accounting and finance level in order to contribute to the realization of growth and cost reduction synergies. Liaise with managers and provide them with all necessary financial information to help them effectively manage costs related to the smooth running of their departments. Work closely with the Consolidation Manager to provide all information required for the preparation of tax returns. Participate in the budget process and quarterly forecast updates. Prepare the year-end audit file and participate in all other tax audits. Participate in the improvement of business processes in terms of efficiency and controls. Supervise transactions with affiliated companies and reconcile related accounts receivable and payable. Participate in various special projects in collaboration with the Consolidation Manager and the Chief Financial Officer. Corporate insurance management.

Required Skills & Aptitudes:



Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel. (e.g. pivot tables). Experience with ERP and BI systems. Good knowledge of IFRS international accounting standards is an asset. Accuracy and attention to detail while working to tight deadlines. Excellent analytical skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Strong ability to identify problems and find solutions. Critical and logical thinking. Creative and innovative thinking. High level of integrity and ethics.

Experience & Education:



Bachelor's degree in accounting and professional designation (CPA). Minimum 5 years accounting experience. Experience in auditing is an asset. Experience in team management is an asset. * Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, in French and English for internal resource management and international interactions.
