Reporting to the MappedIn\xe2\x80\x99s Director of Finance, you\xe2\x80\x99ll flex both your strategic skills and your tactical expertise. On the tactical side that will look like day-to-day bookkeeping, while taking on full-cycle accounting and month-end. Your SaaS revenue recognition and experience with SaaS metrics will make you indispensable here! On the strategic side, you\xe2\x80\x99ll be joining a growing company with endless opportunities to improve and innovate. What could we do better? Where can we optimize and automate? • You\xe2\x80\x99re looking for an opportunity to support both tactical and big picture strategy work.
• You\xe2\x80\x99d consider yourself an expert on the accounting side with opportunities to also work on FP&A ( if you\xe2\x80\x99re eager to learn, we\xe2\x80\x99re eager to mentor!).

Our Ideal Candidate Looks Like:

• Experience with revenue recognition for software subscriptions
• Strong accounting fundamentals and experience
• Proven ability to thrive in a scale-up environment
• Experience with US sales tax
• Passion for optimizing and automating processes and systems
• Experience preparing books for year end and working with external auditors
• Local to the Toronto or Waterloo area. While MappedIn is a remote-first company, they have office locations in Toronto and Waterloo. Enthusiasm and willingness to get together with the team as needed is important!

• Nice-to-have:
  • CPA designation
  • Experience with SR&ED and other government funding-related initiatives

What are some challenges? Mappedin moves fast and we sometimes change directions. We can\xe2\x80\x99t always wait for all the information before we try something. If you want us to guarantee exactly what you\xe2\x80\x99ll be working on three months from now, we can\xe2\x80\x99t give you that. On the other hand, there is a lot of high value work to do, and it won\xe2\x80\x99t be boring. There is a lot of discovery work involved as we frequently do things that are ahead of current technology.
