We raised a Series A round in December 2022 and with that investment, were scaling the team and doubling down on our technology and products. Reporting to the MappedIns Director of Finance, youll flex both your strategic skills and your tactical expertise. On the tactical side that will look like day-to-day bookkeeping, while taking on full-cycle accounting and month-end. Your SaaS revenue recognition and experience with SaaS metrics will make you indispensable here! On the strategic side, youll be joining a growing company with endless opportunities to improve and innovate. What could we do better? Where can we optimize and automate? MappedIn is growing, and we need a Financial Controller who is excited to tackle new challenges and opportunities. For example, creating a US entity is on the horizon, so navigating US sales tax and helping the team fill those gaps in our knowledge is top of mind. • Youre looking for an opportunity to support both tactical and big picture strategy work.
• Youd consider yourself an expert on the accounting side with opportunities to also work on FP&A ( if youre eager to learn, were eager to mentor!).
• You enjoy working in a collaborative, fast-paced environment, a fact you learned in a prior role with a scale-up or growing organization.

Our Ideal Candidate Looks Like:

• Experience with revenue recognition for software subscriptions
• Strong accounting fundamentals and experience
• Proven ability to thrive in a scale-up environment
• Experience with US sales tax
• Passion for optimizing and automating processes and systems
• Experience preparing books for year end and working with external auditors
• Local to the Toronto or Waterloo area. While MappedIn is a remote-first company, they have office locations in Toronto and Waterloo. Enthusiasm and willingness to get together with the team as needed is important!

• Nice-to-have:
  • CPA designation
  • Experience with SR&ED and other government funding-related initiatives

What are some challenges? Mappedin moves fast and we sometimes change directions. We cant always wait for all the information before we try something. If you want us to guarantee exactly what youll be working on three months from now, we cant give you that. On the other hand, there is a lot of high value work to do, and it wont be boring. There is a lot of discovery work involved as we frequently do things that are ahead of current technology. One of our values is playing for the team so you may need to sometimes put aside personal objectives in order to help meet more urgent company objectives, but others will do the same for you. Behind the scenes Theres a lot of trust here at Mappedin. We are a REMOTE company, but this role will require you to come into the office from time to time. There will probably be a few days a week when you can expect other people to be in the office.
