The Role (Not a Bookkeeper)

We're hiring a

Financial Controller

to own

full-cycle accounting and financial reporting

end-to-end.
This is

not

a bookkeeping role. We need someone who can run the function properly: close, reporting, compliance, CRA/HST, and year-end coordination.

You must have

at least 5 years of full-cycle accounting experience in Canada

and be fluent in English. We are

not

hiring outside Canada, and we're

not

looking for junior or entry-level candidates.

What You'll Be Responsible ForFull-Cycle Accounting Ownership

Manage

A/P, A/R, bank/credit card reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, and general ledger

Run

month-end close

Maintain clean, accurate books with proper documentation and controls
CRA / Compliance (Non-Negotiable)

Prepare and file

HST/GST returns

with supporting schedules Handle payroll coordination and statutory remittances (as applicable) Ensure compliance with

CRA rules

and internal policies
Financial Reporting & Management Support

Prepare monthly financial statements and management reports (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow) Provide variance analysis and insights (not just reports) Support budgeting and forecasting as required
Year-End / External Partners

Coordinate

year-end

with external accountants Prepare working papers, schedules, reconciliations, and audit-ready files
Systems, AI & Process Improvement

Maintain and optimize

QuickBooks

(and related systems) Use

AI tools

to improve workflows, controls, reporting, and efficiency Build repeatable processes that reduce manual work and improve consistency
Required Qualifications (Must Have)

Minimum 5 years

of

full-cycle accounting experience in Canada

Hands-on experience with:

HST/GST filings

Month-end close

Year-end preparation

Balance sheet reconciliations Strong practical understanding of

CRA compliance

QuickBooks

proficiency (Online and/or Desktop)

AI competency (mandatory):

you actively use AI/automation tools in your workflow and can demonstrate how you apply them to accounting/reporting/process improvement Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, reconciliations)

Fluent English communication

(written and verbal)

Pay: $50,000.00-$75,000.00 per year
