Financial Controller
to oversee their financial operations and provide strategic financial guidance across the organization.
Role Description
This is a full-time role for a
Financial Controller
, based in Montreal, QC. The Controller will manage all aspects of financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and regulatory compliance. The individual will oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and financial analysis, to ensure the financial health of the organization. Collaboration with management to support strategic decision-making will also be a key responsibility, along with reviewing financial controls and processes to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Manage the complete accounting cycle
, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, general ledger activities, and month-end close processes.
Produce, review, and interpret financial statements
, budgets, and regular forecasts to support informed decision-making.
Build, strengthen, and oversee internal controls
, financial policies, and operating procedures.
Track and analyze cash flow, gross margins, inventory valuation,
and financial performance across all store locations.
Collaborate with store management teams
to identify operational efficiencies, cost-saving opportunities, and profitability enhancements.
Oversee audit activities
and maintain full compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
Supervise, coach, and develop the accounting team
, fostering skill growth and high performance.
Drive process improvements and support automation initiatives
to streamline workflows and increase operational efficiency.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or CMA preferred)
5+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience; retail or grocery industry experience strongly preferred
Canadian citizen or authorized to work in Canada (no sponsorship or visa)
Strong financial management skills, including expertise in financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting
Proficiency in accounting principles, financial analysis, and regulatory compliance
Experience with accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and general ledger management
Excellent organizational and time-management abilities to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
Adept at using accounting software and financial tools
Strong understanding of cost accounting, inventory management, and multi-location operations
Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, detail-oriented environment

. Le ou la Controleur(se) financier(ere) sera responsable de l'ensemble des activites liees a la comptabilite, a la production de rapports financiers, a la budgetisation, aux previsions financieres et a la conformite reglementaire.
La personne retenue supervisera les operations comptables quotidiennes, incluant les comptes fournisseurs et clients, la paie et l'analyse financiere, afin d'assurer la sante financiere de l'organisation. Elle collaborera etroitement avec la direction pour appuyer la prise de decisions strategiques et veillera a l'efficacite et a la conformite des controles et processus financiers.
Responsabilites principales :
Gerer l'ensemble du cycle comptable : comptes fournisseurs, comptes clients, paie, grand livre et processus de cloture mensuelle.
Produire, analyser et interpreter les etats financiers, les budgets et les previsions afin de soutenir une prise de decision eclairee.
Mettre en place, renforcer et superviser les controles internes, politiques financieres et procedures operationnelles.
Suivre et analyser les flux de tresorerie, les marges brutes, la valorisation des stocks et la performance financiere de l'ensemble des succursales.
Collaborer avec les equipes de gestion des magasins afin d'identifier des gains d'efficacite operationnelle, des opportunites de reduction des couts et des ameliorations de la rentabilite.
Superviser les audits et assurer la conformite aux normes comptables et aux exigences reglementaires.
Encadrer, former et developper l'equipe comptable afin de favoriser la performance et le developpement des competences.
Piloter l'amelioration des processus et soutenir les initiatives d'automatisation pour optimiser les flux de travail et l'efficacite operationnelle.
Qualifications
Baccalaureat en comptabilite, finances ou domaine connexe (CPA ou CMA un atout)
Minimum de 5 ans d'experience progressive en comptabilite ou en finance; experience dans le secteur du commerce de detail ou de l'alimentation fortement souhaitee
Citoyennete canadienne ou autorisation legale de travailler au Canada (aucun parrainage ou visa)
Solides competences en gestion financiere, incluant la production de rapports financiers, la budgetisation et les previsions
Excellente connaissance des principes comptables, de l'analyse financiere et de la conformite reglementaire
Experience en comptes fournisseurs/clients, paie et gestion du grand livre
Excellentes capacites d'organisation et de gestion des priorites
Fortes aptitudes analytiques, de resolution de problemes et de prise de decision
Aisance avec les logiciels comptables et les outils financiers
Bonne comprehension de la comptabilite des couts, de la gestion des stocks et des operations multisites
Maitrise de Microsoft Excel
Excellentes habiletes en communication
