About the Role:
We are looking for an ambitious, energetic, and results-driven Controller to join our dynamic team in the bustling auto sales and leasing industry in Quebec, Canada. Key Responsibilities:
1. Financial Management:
o Manage financial reporting: Budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow in a high-speed sales and leasing environment.
o Oversee and optimize vehicle leasing structures: Ensuring compliance with financial, legal, and tax regulations.
o Supervise floorplan financing: leasing portfolios, and dealership accounting operations.
o Handle cross-border transactions: sales, tax filings, and regulatory reporting efficiently.
o Implement strategies: Cost control and revenue optimization initiatives under tight deadlines.
o Ensure accurate and compliant: customer background checks, credit approvals, and leasing risk assessments.
o Lead month-end and year-end closing: Implement processes to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
o Work closely with executives: sales teams, lenders, and financial institutions to align strategy with growth targets.
o Supervise and mentor: Supervise the accounting team, financial controls and operational efficiency.
2. Strategic Planning:
o Collaborate with senior management: Develop and execute short and long-term strategies aligned with KPIs.
o Provide financial insights: Recommend and support decision-making to drive profitability.
o Financial Accountability: Identify cost reduction opportunities, revenue enhancement, and operational efficiency.
o Fleet Management: Coordinate with operations and sales team around fleet preparation, logistics and maintenance
3. Compliance and Risk Management:
o Ensure compliance: Provincial, Federal, and U.S. tax laws, including GST/QST, sales tax, and GAAP.
o Manage relationships: Auditors, tax authorities, other regulatory bodies and partners in a high-pressure setting.
o Mitigate financial risks: Identify effective internal controls and risk management practices.
4. Team Leadership:
o Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing finance and accounting team.
o Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
o Ensure the team meets deadlines and delivers accurate and timely financial information.
5. Industry-Specific Expertise:
o Monitor and analyze industry trends, market conditions, and competitor performance.
o Provide financial guidance on auto sales and leasing operations, including inventory management, financing, and leasing agreements.
o Support the development of pricing strategies and promotional campaigns to maximize revenue.
6. Multi-Tasking and Prioritization:
o Demonstrate the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously, such as financial reporting, compliance, team management, and strategic initiatives.
o Effectively balance day-to-day operational tasks with short-term and long-term projects, ensuring all deadlines are met without compromising quality.
o Adapt quickly to changing priorities and maintain composure in high-pressure situations.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA designation is required.
Between 5-7 years of experience in financial management, preferably in the auto sales/leasing or a related field.
Strong knowledge of Canadian accounting standards and tax regulations.
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, or similar) and advanced Excel skills.
Bilingual in English and French is essential for effective communication in Quebec's business environment.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, decision-making skills paired with high level of integrity & professionalism
Proven leadership abilities with a track record of building and motivating teams.
