AirIQ, a public company listed on the TSX Venture Exchange, is looking for a Controller to undertake all aspects of financial accounting and management for the Company. The Controller will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer and will be responsible for ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in the company's financial operations.
Responsibilities
Financial Accounting & Reporting
Lead month/quarter-end close, manage the general ledger and reconciliations, accruals, and related journal entries.
Prepare timely and accurate interim and annual financial statements and MD&A in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
Prepare the monthly, quarterly, and annual variance analysis reports, identifying key drivers of variances and provide commentary
Lead the preparation of the annual budget and forecast in collaboration with the CFO
Monitor and report on cash flow, preparing short term forecasts and ensure sufficient liquidity for operational needs, while coordinating payment timing and cash management with the CFO
Operational Finance & HR
Oversee and ensure accurate, timely payroll processing, including CRA remittances and integration of payroll data into the accounting system
Support HR administration by maintaining employee records, benefits, onboarding/offboarding, and ensuring compliance while coordinating closely with the CFO on strategic HR matters
Compliance & Controls
Ensure compliance with financial, tax, and regulatory requirements, including public company reporting obligations; support filings such as SEDAR+ submissions, tax returns (including, but not limited to, HST/GST, EHT, etc.), and other statutory reports in collaboration with external advisors and the CFO
Maintain and further develop internal controls by identifying and implementing process improvements to ensure alignment with best practices
Audit & Governance
Serve as the primary point of contact and lead the preparation for the annual audits while ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timely completion
Provide leadership and guidance to the finance team, fostering professional development and collaboration
Assist the Chief Financial Officer with financial reporting and corporate secretarial duties as required around Board meetings and the Annual General Meetings
Perform such other duties as from time to time directed by the Chief Financial Officer
Qualifications
5+ years accounting/finance experience
Proficient in all Microsoft Office suite including Excel, Word and PowerPoint
CPA designation
Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central is considered an asset
Experience in a publicly traded company is considered an asset
Able to work well with others in a fast-paced environment
