Job Description

The Controller is the senior financial leader of Nu Edge Construction Ltd., responsible for the overall financial management of the company. This role provides strategic financial leadership, oversees the finance department, and drives the company's financial strategy. The Controller ensures the organization's financial stability, integrity, and compliance by managing financial risks, making final decisions on financial matters, and guiding the company's financial planning and reporting. Working closely with the Assistant Controller and senior management, the Controller steers financial performance and growth while maintaining a strong financial control environment.

Organizational Dimensions



Reporting Relationship:

Reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Serves as the top finance authority in the organization, with final approval on financial decisions.

Direct Reports:

Supervises the Assistant Controller and other finance/accounting personnel. Provides direction and mentorship to the finance team.

Key Interactions:

Collaborates with the senior leadership team and department heads on financial planning, budgeting, and performance management. Interfaces with external stakeholders such as banks, auditors, insurers, and regulatory bodies on behalf of the company's financial matters.

Accountabilities



Financial Strategy & Leadership:

Develop and implement financial strategies and plans that align with the company's objectives and drive business growth. Provide strategic financial insight to support company leadership in decision-making.

Financial Operations Oversight:

Oversee all financial operations, including accounting, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and strong internal controls across these functions.

Cash Flow & Investment Management:

Manage the company's cash flow and liquidity to meet operational needs. Oversee banking relationships, investments, and financing activities, ensuring optimal capital structure and cost-effective financing.

Financial Reporting & Analysis:

Lead the preparation of timely and accurate financial statements and management reports. Ensure high-quality financial reporting and disclosure for internal and external stakeholders, analyzing results to guide business decisions.

Internal Controls & Compliance:

Establish, monitor, and audit effective internal controls to safeguard company assets. Ensure compliance with all relevant accounting standards, tax laws, and regulatory requirements. Champion ethical financial practices and the confidentiality of financial information.

Risk Management:

Identify financial and operational risks (e.g. credit risk, market risk, project risk) and develop strategies to mitigate them. Maintain appropriate insurance coverage and contingency plans to protect the company's financial interests.

Stakeholder Relations:

Maintain strong relationships with external auditors, banks, insurers, and government agencies. Act as the primary liaison for review engagements , ensuring all regulatory filings and reporting requirements are completed accurately and on time.

Administrative Oversight:

Manage key financial and administrative renewals and commitments. This includes renewing important contracts and policies (e.g. commercial liability insurance, corporate benefits plans, banking facilities, key software systems) in coordination with relevant departments to ensure continuous coverage and compliance with terms.

Team Leadership & Development:

Lead, mentor, and develop the finance and accounting team. Foster a high-performance, collaborative culture aligned with the company's values. Delegate responsibilities appropriately while maintaining final oversight, and build the team's capabilities through coaching and training.

Policy & Process Improvement:

Develop and enforce financial policies and standard operating procedures to ensure consistency and control. Drive continuous improvement and innovation in financial processes, systems (e.g. accounting software or ERP), and workflows to increase accuracy and efficiency.

Decision Support:

Provide financial insights and recommendations to the CEO and executive team. Conduct financial analysis (e.g. cost-benefit, ROI, scenario modeling) to support strategic initiatives, and advise on the financial implications of major business decisions or investments.

Backup Responsibilities:

Step in to perform key duties of the Assistant Controller or other finance staff when necessary (for example, during absences or peak workload periods) to ensure continuity of operations and that critical tasks are completed.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $100,000.00-$150,000.00 per year
