What We Do:
We are advancing an exciting pipeline of neurology-focused therapies, with a focus on commercializing novel treatments for epilepsy. Building upon the positive results and compelling data from our XEN1101 Phase 2b \xe2\x80\x9cX-TOLE\xe2\x80\x9d study in adult patients with focal epilepsy, our XEN1101 Phase 3 program includes studies in adult patients with focal onset seizures and primary generalized tonic clonic seizures. In addition, XEN1101 is being evaluated as a treatment for major depressive disorder in both a company-sponsored Phase 2 clinical trial, as well as an investigator-led proof-of-concept study. Xenon\'s proprietary, pediatric formulation of ezogabine, XEN496, is being studied in a Phase 3 clinical trial in young patients with KCNQ2-DEE, a rare and severe form of childhood epilepsy. We are also proud of the leading-edge science coming out of our discovery labs, where many innovative, early-stage research programs are underway. About the Role:
We are seeking a Financial Analyst to join our Finance team. This position will be responsible for accounting tasks related to our clinical programs, including contract purchase order and invoice processing, supporting financial analysis and accrual processes, and other duties as directed.
This position reports to the Manager, Finance and will be located in the Vancouver, BC, Canada location; we may consider other locations for an exceptional candidate.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform program accounting and corporate accounting duties for various programs/projects including invoice, purchase and change order processing and tracking, account reconciliations and journal entries.
  • Transform contracts into purchase orders in the accounting system, ensuring purchase orders reflect contract terms and coding are in accordance with the chart of accounts.
  • Work closely with Accounts Payable and department managers with incoming invoices to match with purchase orders in accounting system, recording of expenses and compliance with accounting procedures.
  • Communicate with vendors and internal departments to obtain information, respond to inquiries and resolve issues in a timely manner, while maintaining good relations at all times.
  • Assist Accounting, Financial Planning & Analysis, Program Management and other department managers with program/project reporting such budgets, costs to date, accruals, variances, etc.
  • Ensure adherence to internal controls over the accounting process.
  • Support the month-end, quarter-end, year-end close processes and financial audits.
  • Support the designing and implementing of new processes and procedures to yield greater accuracy and timeliness for the accounting process.
  • Act in accordance with Company policies, including, for example, the Code of Business Conduct and Ethics and ensure policies are understood and followed by direct reports, if any.
  • Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Minimum 4 years of project, management or cost accounting work experience in a high-volume environment required; relevant post-secondary degree or diploma required
  • Highly proficient in accurate data entry and diligent in reviewing own work
  • Excellent organizational skills, multitasking and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
  • Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written), maintaining a courteous, businesslike manner when interfacing with outside contacts and other employees
  • Ability to handle a high volume of transactions while adhering to internal control policies
  • Experience with Great Plains accounting software an asset
  • Working knowledge of MS Office Suite and ability to learn new systems quickly
