About the Role:
Our client, a respected non-profit organization focused on community health and wellness, is looking for a Financial Analyst to join their Accounting team. Reporting to the Senior Director, Finance, this role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with data, budgets, and forecasts - and who thrives on providing insight that helps guide decision-making.
This position plays a key role in supporting the organization's financial health through analysis, reporting, and collaboration across departments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze monthly results, comparing actual performance to budget and highlighting areas requiring action.
- Prepare quarterly and annual financial and statistical reports for multiple funding sources and ministries.
- Lead the annual budgeting process and assist with quarterly forecasts.
- Ensure compliance with financial and reporting requirements for various funding bodies.
- Prepare year-end financial statements and working papers to support the external audit process.
- Develop and refine reports using existing accounting software to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Perform additional financial analysis or projections as required by leadership.
Qualifications:
- University degree in business, finance, accounting, or economics.
- CPA designation (or in progress) or MBA preferred.
- 2-3 years of progressive experience in finance or accounting; exposure to telecommunications, non-profit, or government-funded environments considered an asset.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to make sound decisions in ambiguous situations.
- Advanced Excel skills; proficiency in MS Office Suite required.
- Working knowledge of SAS or SQL considered an asset.
- Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with confidence engaging senior leadership.
- Proactive, detail-oriented, and self-motivated with a collaborative approach.
