About the Role
Financial Analyst Full-time Hartland, NB ? Fredericton, NB
The Financial Analyst is a key member of the Financial Planning & Analysis team and would be an active participant in financial analysis and planning functions, including preparation of business cases to support investment in new equipment and infrastructure across the entire Network. The role also involves analysis of various financial reports, supporting business units and staff in the preparation of forecasts and budgets and collaborating with the accounting and procurement teams on month-end and year-end activities. Works closely with the Manager of FP&A to identify financial issues and opportunities. Strong collaboration skills, attention to detail, being inquisitive, while also effectively managing multiple deadlines are all key to this role.
How You?ll Help
Play a supporting role in the management of the capital expenditure cycle (development, approval, forecasting, adherence to corporate policy)
Preparation of REA/Capex Requests (Request for Expenditure Authorization) for the business
Assist in the annual budgeting process by providing financial support to the business divisions, preparation of capital spend forecast, etc.
Preparation and delivery of routine management reports, daily, weekly, monthly.
Active participation in month end & quarter end processes by gathering information, pushing deadlines, finalizing presentations, preparing reconciliations, QBR reporting, etc. May prepare month end and quarter end report for small business units.
Provide financial support & direction to other business units
Keep the Manager of FP&A informed on any progress or setbacks
Other projects related to financial analysis as required
Your Skills & Experience:Education/Training
Post-secondary education, in Business, Management or Accounting
3+ years of progressive business/finance experience, including planning and budgeting
Experience in the transportation industry an asset
Exceptional numerical, analytical and problem solving skills
Excellent communication skills both written & verbal
Leadership skills
Strong organizational skills
Ability to work under pressure to meet/exceed deadlines
Ability to work independently and to collaborate with a team
Strong MS Office skills, particularly Excel
English (verbal/written/spoken) required; French or other languages are an asset
Able to work with little supervision
Provides guidance & support to financial analysts and to non-financial managers in the various business units
