JOB DESCRIPTION
The Financial Analyst is responsible for conducting in-depth financial and operational analyses to support and enhance business performance. This role focuses on identifying the root causes of performance variances across individual auctions, correcting discrepancies, and uncovering process inefficiencies. The Analyst will lead complex analytical initiatives, interpret large datasets, and deliver clear, actionable insights to senior leadership. The position also ensures adherence to internal controls, audit standards, and risk management requirements while maintaining accurate data and documentation. Collaboration across departments is essential to support strategic planning and continuous improvement efforts. This is a hybrid role based out of our Burnaby, BC location.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Conduct detailed financial analyses, with emphasis on identifying the nature and cause of variances in each auction's performance, as well as identifying and correcting discrepancies, errors, or process inefficiencies impacting financial and operational results.
Create and present reports to identify trends, support decision-making, and drive business performance.
Lead complex analytical projects with minimal supervision.
Analyze large and complex datasets; distill findings into clear, actionable insights and concise presentations.
Maintain full compliance with internal policies, audit standards, and risk management requirements.
Compile and maintain accurate data and documentation to support internal and external audit reviews. Prepare variance analysis.
Complete monthly account reconciliations and compliance reporting.
Complete SOX control requirements ensuring full SOX compliance.
Ensuring adherence of Corporate Accounting Policies
Perform other duties as assigned.
Collaborate cross-functionally to support business planning and continuous improvement initiatives.
QUALIFICATIONS
2+ years' experience in an operational accounting department and proven understanding of company policies/procedures.
Proven experience of effective communication with IT professionals to ensure the needs of the business are understood and met.
2-4 years - accounting experience, account reconciliation, customer service experience preferred
Degree in accounting or combination of experience and education.
Advanced understanding of accounting and operations systems including interfaces functions between them.
Advanced Excel skills, including extensive use of pivot tables, V-lookups and comfort with complex excel sheets.
Time-management and problem resolution.
Ability to work well under pressure, adjust to changing priorities and capable of meeting tight timelines.
Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills.
Desire to suggest alternatives and ideas for improvement.
Ability to work independently and without direct supervision.
