Your role

Reporting to the Manager, Accounting & External Reporting, Controllership, you will be responsible for providing timely reports and financial analyses for Corporate Controllership and the English Network. This includes conducting analysis and research of financial information and other non-financial data to support those activities. You will identify opportunities for improvement in existing reports and processes and build new reporting to support the department.

Ensure that the information provided adheres to accounting policies and practices, identify deviations and make recommendations for improvement.

Provide administrative and financial support to the Manager, Accounting & External Reporting.

Under the supervision of the manager, act as a resource person for managers and employees and help them interpret and apply administrative, financial and human resources policies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Validate international travel accounts and ensure that policies related to travel and entertainment expenses are properly applied.
  • Produce control reports to ensure the application of CBC\'s policies and standards.
  • Manage the collection of co-signed contracts and data entry into FRC.
  • Prepare exhibits for balance sheet accounts and ensure data integrity; identify significant discrepancies, prepare comments from the various balance sheet accounts and write a first draft of comments.
  • Ensure the preparation of financial reports and tables or other analysis tools and comment on the results.
  • Assist the manager with the preparation of the CRTC\'s annual reports; analyze and make the necessary adjustments to the data.
  • Interpret and ensure the application of recognized accounting policies, standards, methods and practices as well as auditors\' recommendations.
  • Investigate and resolve problems relating to administrative matters and code related invoices.
  • Review and approve entries for replenishment and closure of production funds.
  • Perform a variety of research and analysis as required.
Qualifications

We are looking for a candidate with the following:
  • Accounting Diploma or Degree and/or relevant experience is required.
  • Active Student of CPA Accounting program or Designation is preferred.
  • At least 2-3 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience demonstrating growth and/or advancement in complexity, difficulty, or level of responsibility.
  • Proficiency in Excel and other MS Office applications. SAP, TM1.
  • Self-starter and team-player with the ability to work under minimal supervision.
  • Investigative and analytical skills with the ability to identify and implement strategies for improvement.
  • Ability to set priorities and balance competing business needs within budgetary restrictions and reporting deadlines.
  • Interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written), across all levels of staff and management.
  • Bilingualism (English / French) would be an asset.
  • Experience working in a diverse and inclusive environment.
