Job Details

Position Title: Financial Aid Officer

Status: FT Support

Hours: 35hrs/wk

Faculty/Department: Office fo the Registrar

Campus/Location: North Campus

Salary: Band H (Min) $33.38 (Max) $38.75

What you will do:

Under the direction of the Manager, Financial Aid, the Financial Aid Officer analyzes and coordinates the financial aid/OSAP/bursary and scholarship process and is the subject matter expert on financial aid, as such, complex or non-routine issues are escalated to the incumbent. The incumbent provides information and communicates with prospective students,

applicants, guidance counsellors, parents, faculty and college administrators regarding a broad range of financial aid-related question/topics. The incumbent supports the College\xe2\x80\x99s recruitment and admissions efforts by developing and delivering information sessions on and off-campus.

Additional responsibilities include: acting as a key team member to the Financial Aid Advisors, all part-time staff and Work Study students; dealing with difficult and complex clients as referred by the Financial Aid Advisors, college faculty or administrators; administration of special programs including Out of Province loans and Bursaries for Students with Disabilities;

provides support for the annual financial aid cycle by participating in validating and testing financial aid forms, queries and processes that affect financial aid for all program levels; analyzes and recommends solutions or enhancements to processes; trains financial aid staff; monitors, investigates and trouble-shoots student record issues.

Qualifications

What you bring to the role:

Education

The successful candidate will possess a three year diploma or degree in Public Relations, Accounting or Business.

Experience

A minimum of three years of professional experience specifically related to student financial aid services including OSAP, Scholarships, Bursaries and emergency loans administration.

Skills

  • Excellent communication, problem solving and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to make decisions and work independently.
  • Proficiency with various software programs.
  • Proven ability to handle a variety of tasks with ongoing deadlines.
  • Experience in a leadership role.
  • Thorough knowledge of the Ontario College system.
Successful Applicants:
  • Must be comfortable working on hybrid schedule, on-site (at the campus) three (3) days per week and remotely two (2) days per week. The hybrid schedule is subject to change.
  • Must have access to a reliable internet connection.
  • Must have a suitable and private work space to take calls from home/remotely.
