Financial Accountant (dealer Services)

Job Description



Are you a designated Financial Accountant with a high potential that wants to work closely with operations and who thrives in a dynamic and fast-paced environment? We would love to hear from you! Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Financial Accountant will collaborate on all the activities related to accounting and preparation of financial reports for the Dealers Services division. The incumbent will also participate on projects where an accounting involvement is required, support the implementation of the new IFRS standards and support the operations in the achievement of its management reporting and internal control activities. Main responsibilities

  • Prepare accurate and timely financial management reports and statements.
  • Recommend and establish financial control procedures, in-line with current accounting standards
  • Develop solutions to resolve accounting discrepancies and other financial problems/issues
  • Ensure the accuracy of system produced and manually prepared customized statements.
  • Ensure that all financial reports are prepared in accordance with IFRS and regulatory requirements and follow the iA group policies and procedures
  • Support the company in the implementation of the new IFRS 17 and IFRS 9 standards according to the new requirements:
  • Produce new internal and external reports including financial statements
  • Assist in the review and update of accounting processes, including the closing process, and controls in place
  • Assist in answering questions and produce reconciliation required for external and internal audits
  • Participate in the production of the semi-annual regulatory report
  • Prepare valuation reports of products in collaboration with Actuarial; prepare and post corresponding GL journal entries.
  • Prepare financial reporting for various reinsurance, profit sharing and partnership arrangements.
  • Support partners in their accounting questions and needs
  • Actively contribute to various and challenging projects
Requirements
  • CPA designation and 5+ years of relevant accounting experience
  • Good knowledge of IFRS or willingness to learn
  • Knowledge of the insurance industry is an asset
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite with an advanced knowledge of Excel. Oracle EPR is an asset
  • Well-developed analytical and interpersonal skills to enable incumbent to gather, interpret and analyze information and communicate the results of the analysis to internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, market-driven environment, juggling multiple initiatives, re-establishing priorities on a continuous basis
  • Self-starter who is resourceful and takes initiative to provide appropriate recommendations for improvements
  • Excellent teamwork skills, solution-oriented and positive attitude
  • Versatility and thoroughness
  • Bilingual (French/English) an asset.
