Job Description

Adams Lake Indian Band is seeking one full time term Finance Officer - Payroll to work under the direction of the Adams Lake Band's Accounting Coordinator. The individual's main responsibilities will be coordinating and administering payroll and benefits for the Adam Lake Indian Band and its affiliated companies.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES



Performs all duties and responsibilities in accordance with Adams Lake Indian Band laws, policies and procedures Maintain records of employee attendance, leave and overtime to calculate pay and benefit entitlements Prepare and verify statements of earnings for employees, indicating gross and net salaries and deductions such as taxes, garnishments and insurance and pension plans Prepare employee payments and benefit payments by cheque or electronic transfer Complete, verify and process forms and documentation for administration of benefits such as pension plans, leaves, employment and medical insurance Prepare T4 statements and other statements Provide information to employees on payroll matters, benefit plans and collective agreement provisions Compile statistical reports, statements, and summaries related to pay and benefits accounts Prepare and balance period-end reports and reconcile issued payrolls to bank statements Develops payroll policies and procedures with the Director of Human Resources Administers benefit plan, including benefit sign up and inquiries in conjunction with Human Resources Administers Long Term Disability plan in conjunction with Human Resources Maintains accurate employee payroll records and files Creates and Maintains Excel spreadsheets to ensure biweekly timesheets are complete, accurate and input into the payroll system and processed according to time frames Ensures proper deductions, e.g. garnishes, CRA remitting, pension, A/R are reported Performs other duties as required

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, AND SKILLS



Minimum of Grade 12 education or equivalent Post secondary education, including successful completion of PCP or CPP preferred Completion of a recognized payroll program or courses, preferred Previous payroll experience, preferred Experience in an accounting/bookkeeping environment Possess strong computer skills using MS Word, Excel and Adagio accounting systems Good verbal and written communication skills Excellent analytical and organizational skills to achieve desired results Diplomacy, tact and confidentiality in dealing with a variety of people and information Reliability and dependability Good interpersonal skills Ability to work in a team orientated environment Flexibility is a must to adapt to changing work priorities

Those normally associated with a typical office environment. Continuous visual concentration on computer/laptop and/or calculator.

The majority of work is performed in a typical office environment.

Accounting - Adagio, RBC Pay Edge, ADP Payroll

OTHER REQUIREMENTS




Valid Class 5 BC Driver's License

BONA FIDE JOB REQUIREMENTS




Current Criminal Records Check with vulnerable sector clearance, with results acceptable to ALIB.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:




Full time term position during employee leave of absence.


Wage range: $30.00 to $40.00 per hour dependent on individuals' education and experience.


Location: Chase Administration Office 6453 Hillcrest Rd, Chase, BC


Hours per week: 75 hours bi-weekly (max 37.5 hrs./week), with flexibility in hours/days of work. In office attendance is mandatory though hybrid work arrangements may be discussed.
