FINANCE MANAGER

North Bay Hydro Distribution Limited (NBHDL) strives to provide high levels of customer satisfaction and reliable electrical service within the community of North Bay, Ontario. We value employees and are looking for the right person to come and join our exciting and dedicated team.

Under the direction of the Vice-President, Finance, the Finance Manager oversees the day-to-day accounting functions for North Bay Hydro and its affiliates, both regulated and unregulated entities respectively. This includes financial reporting and analysis, forecasting, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, work order costing, and computer systems relating to accounting. The Finance Manager is also responsible for organizing and coordinating the preparation of the annual operating and capital budgets for the group of companies, along with leading and managing the year-end audit.

The incumbent acts as a business partner to functional business units and supports financial operations to ensure a sound understanding of financial performance and ensure appropriate fiscal responsibility of the company\'s business leaders. The incumbent ensures compliance with corporate and financial policies, procedures, standards, and regulations and has exceptional financial and accounting expertise with attention to detail.

The individual provides leadership to develop direct and indirect reports and direct supervisory staff responsibilities include overseeing the work of the subordinate positions consisting of a team of four (Accountants and Junior Accountants).

You are the ideal candidate if you have:

  • Bachelor\'s degree in Business, Accounting, or related discipline.
  • 5+ years\' experience in a management position leading an accounting department.
  • Certified Professional Accountant (CPA), or enrollment in the CPA program, will be considered an asset.
  • Working knowledge of IFRS and Ontario Energy Board Regulated Accounting Principles.
  • Demonstrated leadership and motivational capabilities with a commitment to continuous improvement, customer service, frontline leadership, and teamwork principles are necessary.
  • Must possess superior interpersonal, problem-solving, organization and communication (verbal, written & presentation) skills together with the ability to maintain professional and effective working relationships with customers, staff and outside agencies.
