What we are looking for:
We are entering our next stage of growth and are looking for a Finance Manager to join our team.
What you will do:
Financial Management:
Oversee the end-to-end financial operations of the business
Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, including monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
Provide monthly information and analysis for the Management Team
Develop and implement financial policies, procedures, and controls to enhance financial discipline and maturity
Establish relationships with external partners including banks, legal and customers
Responsible for the annual budget process, providing monthly reviews, and any other reporting as requested
Coordinate annual engagement of the Company with external auditors
Perform analysis on various company projects and plans and provide alternatives and recommendations
Strategic Thinking
Collaborate with partners and senior management to develop and execute financial strategies aligned with the firm's goals and objectives
Analyze financial data and trends to provide insights and recommendations for strategic decision-making
Process Enhancement
Identify opportunities for process improvements and automation within the finance department
Implement best practices to optimize efficiency, accuracy, and compliance in financial processes
Operational Excellence
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and financial laws
Monitor and manage cash flow, budgeting, and forecasting activities
Learning and Innovation
Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and emerging technologies in finance
Encourage a culture of curiosity and exploration within the finance team to discover new ways of working
What you bring:
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field
Proven experience in financial management with progressive financial responsibility, preferably within a professional services industry
Full cycle accounting experience with expertise in Quickbooks
Strong leadership and team management skills
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Demonstrated ability to drive process improvements and enhance financial maturity
Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
Ability to perform under pressure and meet deadlines
Location Requirement:
The person must be located in the Halifax Regional Municipality (HRM)
In person meetings:
There will be in-person meetings in the Halifax area with the executive team a few times per month.
