What are we looking for? We are looking for a Finance Coordinator to support the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) in maintaining financial records, processing payments, cash handling, and payroll processing and record keeping. This role will report directly to the CFO and requires to be onsite once a week at our Sheppard/Yonge office.

Note: Interviews for this position will be conducted by Microsoft Teams. The BAO currently follows a Hybrid Work model whereby employees may visit the office as frequently as needed and has the option to work from a home office up to 4 days/week. The BAO has a COVID-19 vaccination policy that requires all staff be fully vaccinated by a Health Canada approved COVID-19 vaccine or undergo regular testing. Responsibilities
  • Work closely with the CFO to ensure effective operation of all finance matters
  • Process payroll for all employees while maintaining detailed records.
  • Plan, organize and manage workload to ensure your contribution to the company\xe2\x80\x99s monthly financial reporting process is achieved in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Assist in the production of financial statements and applications, preparation of spreadsheets, reports and correspondence as required.
  • Provide month-end accruals for financial statements.
  • Input accounting data into the accounting system with speed and accuracy.
  • Reconcile monthly bank statements.
  • Maintain general ledger.
  • Reviewing all invoices for appropriate documentation and approval prior to payment.
  • Ensure swift processing and payment of invoices.
  • Resolution of finance-related queries, both internal and external.
  • Assist with year-end audit preparation and procedures including audit schedules and supporting documentation required by auditors.
  • Provide financial support to other departments.
  • Scanning and filling all invoices and source documents.
  • Reconciliation of monthly bank and revenue accounts.
  • Prepare and process weekly bank deposits.
  • Act as a finance liaison with staff and external database provider to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records and transactions.
  • Preparation of monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Assist CFO with other administrative duties that may be deemed appropriate to this role.

  • Basic understanding of accounting processes and procedures.
  • Awareness of the provisions of the Data Protection Act and ability to apply these within the organization.
  • High level of competence in Excel, Word, Outlook, and QuickBooks.
  • Good communication and listening skills.
  • Good organizational skills used in planning own work.
  • Calm and professional disposition.
  • Self-motivated and enthusiastic.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet targets and deadlines.
  • Able to work in a busy office environment that often demands high levels of concentration.
  • Able to respond effectively to changing priorities.
  • Able to manage high volume workload.
  • Able to work effectively with minimal management guidance/supervision.
  • Willingness to accept responsibility.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving ability.

You will REALLY stand out if you have the following
  • Post-secondary degree in accounting or finance
  • Experienced with Ceridian payroll
  • Working towards professional designation, such as Charter Professional Accountant
  • Experience working in the not-for-profit or public service sector
  • Bilingual (English/French speaking)
  • Experience working with Oasis databases
