SPECIAL ELIGIBILITY: As this position is funded by the Canada Summer Jobs program, the Program\'s eligibility criteria requires that the successful candidate:
  • must be between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period;
  • is a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment; and,
  • has a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.
This is a temporary position expected to last approximately eight (8) weeks in duration.

Job Summary This position primarily provides support to the Finance Manager and fulfills vital payroll and finance functions for the organization. Essential to the function of our administrative team, the Finance Assistant processes payroll, organizes accounts payable, and manages banking transactions. The successful candidate will also complete other administrative projects as required. Key Responsibilities
  • Processes invoices and all accounts payable payments in a timely manner
  • Reconcile and process accounts
  • Assist with bi-weekly payroll
  • Filing and record-keeping for all financial documents
  • Assist with year-end processes and reconciliations
  • Assist with the creation of a revised chart of accounts and formatting the same in excel
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Strong understanding of the workings of an office
  • Preference will be given to those with previous accounting/and or payroll experience
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to implement own processes
  • Security Clearance
Skills and Abilities
  • Competency with Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, Accpac; knowledge of Sage 300
  • Strong problem-solving skills, self-motivated, a quick learner
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Strong account reconciliation skills
  • Works well independently and collaboratively
