JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking a dedicated Fieldworker to play a crucial role in engaging with communities impacted by the legacy of residential schools.
The Fieldworker will play a pivotal role in engaging with communities affected by the legacy of residential schools. The primary objective is to work closely with the Manager, Reconciliation Program, and community stakeholders to facilitate outreach, gather essential information, and provide direct support to individuals and families impacted by the residential school system.
This is a full-time term position for 2024-2025 fiscal years and need one (1) Fieldworker per location in Inuvik, NT office and to travel to the southern Inuvialuit for assigned duties.
QUALIFICATIONS
Applicants must be/have:
  • Community Development or a related field. Equivalencies will be considered.
  • Minimum 2 years in community engagement, fieldwork, or related roles, preferably within Indigenous communities.
  • Knowledge of the Inuvialuit Settlement Region, the Inuvialuit Final Agreement (IFA), and the cooperative management structures established pursuant to the IFA (required).
  • Knowledge of the historical and cultural aspects of residential schools and their impact on Indigenous communities.
  • Ability to engage with diverse communities.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills must be able to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times.
  • Sensitivity and cultural competence in working with communities affected by residential schools\' legacy.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a team setting and work with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficient with computers, i.e., Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.
  • Fluency in local Inuit languages considered an asset.
  • Extensive travel capability and a valid driver\xe2\x80\x99s license required.
