Job Description

Delco Water, a division of Delco Automation Inc., is seeking motivated individuals with a background in Instrumentation Engineering Technology to join our team. This role offers an entry point into the field of advanced water and wastewater purification, working alongside industry-leading technologies and partners such as Hach, Hydranautics, Endress+Hauser, Siemens, Bray, Swan, Veolia, Pentair, DuPont, NX Filtration, and Grundfos. We focus on delivering industry-leading solutions and services to municipal, industrial, and First Nations clients.

As a Field Service Instrumentation Engineering Technician, the successful candidate will be responsible for implementing and supporting our diverse range of Water Treatment Products, including Biological Filtration (BIO), Ultrafiltration (UF), Nanofiltration (Nano), Reverse Osmosis (RO), and conventional filtration systems throughout Manitoba and Western Ontario.

Important Note: this position requires frequent travel within the Winnipeg area, as well as around Manitoba and Western Ontario to client sites.

Responsibilities:



Systematic learning of the installation, calibration, and commissioning processes for our advanced water and wastewater treatment systems, building expertise in contemporary instrumentation practices. Developing proficiency in troubleshooting through both preventative and reactive maintenance, diagnosing and resolving complex instrumentation and electrical issues in field settings. Providing ongoing technical support, operational guidance, and maintenance services to our clientele, covering both Delco Water's systems and those from external manufacturers. Conducting thorough customer training and providing necessary assistance to enable effective utilization of their water and wastewater treatment solutions. Preparing detailed site reports and maintaining comprehensive documentation following each client interaction. Actively promoting and adhering to safety protocols in all work activities. Frequent travel throughout Manitoba and Western Ontario to address diverse challenges and opportunities at various service locations. Performing chemical cleaning procedures on installed systems. Conducting water quality testing and maintaining the functionality of final control instruments. Diagnosing and rectifying minor electrical faults, including issues with HMIs and PLCs. Maintaining and troubleshooting chemical dosing equipment. Maintaining and troubleshooting analytical instruments such as chlorine, pH, ORP, and conductivity meters. Commissioning newly installed water treatment solutions and conducting pilot testing of small-scale systems.

Desired Qualifications:



We are seeking recent graduates from recognized Canadian Instrumentation Engineering Technology programs. An apprenticeship will be offered to facilitate the acquisition of hours towards Journeyperson or Red Seal certification in Instrumentation Engineering Technology. Candidates who already possess a Journeyperson or Red Seal certification in Instrumentation Engineering Technology are also encouraged to apply.

Essential Skills and Attributes:



Aptitude for understanding electrical and mechanical systems, coupled with strong troubleshooting skills. Competence in computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite and AutoCAD. A foundational understanding of and commitment to the Occupational Health & Safety Act. Well-developed interpersonal, organizational, decision-making, and communication skills. Demonstrated self-motivation, attention to detail, adaptability, and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively. Capacity to work autonomously and maintain productivity over extended periods without close supervision. Ability to remain composed and effective in stressful or emergency situations. Effective communication skills for interacting with individuals at all levels within client organizations and Delco Water. A team-oriented approach with a commitment to achieving organizational objectives. A valid Manitoba Driver's License. Willingness to undertake frequent travel (approximately 75%).

Preferred Skills and Experience:



Previous experience in industrial or field service, particularly within the water and wastewater treatment sector. Familiarity with Delco Water's product offerings or similar technologies. A basic understanding of PLC/SCADA systems. Strong interpersonal and customer service skills. A proactive and innovative approach to problem resolution. Proven ability to build positive relationships with clients.
