Position Overview

The

Field

Quality Control Manager (QCM)

is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing the Quality Control (QC) program for construction projects. This role ensures that all work complies with contract documents, project specifications, applicable codes, regulatory requirements, and company quality standards.

The QCM works closely with Project Managers, Site Superintendents, consultants, inspectors, and subcontractors to proactively identify and resolve quality issues, minimize rework, and ensure high-quality project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Quality Management & Compliance



Develop, implement, and maintain Project-specific Quality Control Plans (QCPs). Ensure compliance with: Contract documents and technical specifications BC Building Code and applicable standards Municipal, provincial, and regulatory requirements Establish quality benchmarks and inspection checkpoints for all phases of construction.

Inspections & Audits



Oversee and complete inspections of materials, components and finished work to verify compliance with quality standards. Coordinate and conduct on-site quality inspections. Assist in client audits and satisfaction surveys. Approve or reject incoming materials and subcontractor works based on quality compliance. Identify deficiencies, issue Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), and track corrective actions through resolution. Verify completion of corrective work and sign off on close-out items.

Coordination & Communication



Work collaboratively with Project Managers, Superintendents, consultants, and subcontractors to resolve quality issues. Manage all corrective actions for non-conformance works. Review supplier/subcontractor QC procedures and certification. Liaise with inspectors, engineers, and authorities having jurisdiction as required. Participate in pre-construction meetings, trade coordination meetings, and project reviews.

Documentation & Reporting



Maintain accurate and complete QC documentation, including: Inspection reports Test results and certifications NCR logs and corrective action records Prepare weekly and monthly quality reports for project and senior management. Support project close-out documentation, deficiency lists, and turnover packages.

Continuous Improvement



Analyze trends in defects, failures or deviations and recommend process improvements. Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and reduce work. Support training and mentoring of site teams on quality standards and best practices. Promote a proactive quality culture across all projects. Review project plans and specifications to identify critical quality control points.
Qualifications

Education



Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering,Architecture, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience)*

Experience



Minimum 5 years of experience in construction quality control, inspection, or field supervision. Experience working for a General Contractor on residential, or Multi-Family projects. Strong understanding of construction sequencing, materials, and workmanship standards.

Certifications (Preferred)



Certified Construction Quality Manager (CCQM) or equivalent Knowledge of ISO-based quality systems (asset) Safety certifications (e.g., COR, Occupational Health & Safety training)
WORKING CONDITIONS

Field Base/active construction site work

Ability to work in all weather conditions typical of construction environments
