Field Experience DirectorThe Bachelor of Education degree in the College of Education is a highly competitive four-year program that offers diverse routes for those interested in becoming a teacher. Each route includes a number of field experiences during which students have the potential to develop their teaching skills in urban, rural, northern, community-based, and international placement sites. The person in this role has the exciting responsibility of leading the team that works with our partners to creatively design field experience opportunities that enhance the professional learning of teacher candidates and meet Saskatchewan teacher certification requirements. This person possesses the ability to predict trends, manage challenges by creating solutions, and designs new field experience opportunities each term.Primary Purpose: The College of Education is actively seeking an energetic applicant with current experience in preK-12 teaching practice for the role of Field Experience Director responsible for the administration and delivery of school, community-based, and international field study components of the Bachelor of Education degree program. The Field Experience Director determines direction, goals, and vision for the Field Experiences Team using collaboration and a strengths-based approach. The Field Experience team includes a Field Experience Coordinator, a Field Experience Officer, and a Field Experience Administrative Assistant to provide coordination, development, and delivery of field experience programs and services to students, facilitators, and Field Partners. The Director creates and nurtures relationships with field partners in order to increase the number of available placements each term, while also responding to feedback from collaborating teachers, administrators, and school division partners. Responding to the educational landscape in Saskatchewan and innovating practices to adapt to the needs of children and youth in classrooms is required. The director leads change in course deliverables to align with evolving practices in the field while collaborating with College of Education staff and faculty, facilitators, collaborating teachers, school-based administrators, and teacher candidates.Nature of Work: Reporting to the Associate Dean, Undergraduate Programs, Partnerships, and Research, the Field Experience Director must be a flexible professional with the capacity to manage a broad range of duties that impact university, school-based, and international partners. The work will include organizing and supporting experiential learning opportunities in rural, northern, urban, community-based, and international settings. It also necessitates an ability to manage multiple responsibilities and time commitments (some of which occur outside of regular work hours), competing demands, and strong relational and conflict management skills. Travel may be required.Education: Master\'s Degree in Education or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. A minimum of ten years of teaching experience is required; experience in the role of school-based administrator would be considered an asset.Licenses: Valid Saskatchewan Teaching Certificate; Driver\'s License.Experience: Minimum ten years teaching experience and an understanding of protocols and procedures for working with partners, school divisions, and/or First Nations educational authorities is required. Knowledge of school systems, schools, preK-12 curricula and current teaching practice in Saskatchewan, as well as experience in counseling students, working with school teams and conducting research is necessary.
