GKM Consultants
, a Canadian company with a proven experience in geotechnical and structural instrumentation projects, as well as in vibration and noise control and monitoring, is recognized in Canada and internationally for its expertise. We provide customized and innovative monitoring solutions and have all the resources required to complete the various phases of instrument installation and commissioning throughout construction. Our worldwide operations deliver projects in multiple sectors, including mining, civil engineering, energy and the environment. Our head office is located in Sainte-Julie, Qu\xc3\xa9bec.


We are seeking an energetic person for the role of Field EIT to be based at our Mississauga, ON office. Responsibilities:
Field Engineering 50%
Coordinate on-site activities (PODC):

  • Plan sequence of work
  • Organize resources
  • Direct/lead field crews
  • Control resources, costs, timelines

Execute the mandate on-site:
  • The installation of monitoring systems and data acquisition units
  • The validation of calculation
  • The programming of the systems
  • The configuration of the communication
  • The compilation of all information for interpretation
  • The verification of commissioning and proper use
  • The transfer of information and training to clients
  • The administrative documentation (field time sheets and shipping orders)



Technical support 20%

Provide technical support to the sales team on:
  • The suggestion of appropriate equipment
  • The design of monitoring systems
  • The evaluation of time and material needs

Provide technical support to clients:
  • Perform the necessary tests
  • Make diagnosis
  • Search for solutions
  • Support clients remotely in their actions

Provide feedback to the:
  • Technical team
  • Sales team
  • Participate in the writing of technical or scientific articles



End of missions 15%

Conclude the execution of the mandates by ensuring to:
  • Respect the inventory procedures
  • Keep the tools in good condition
  • Keep vehicles we provide in good conditions
  • Store the equipment in its respective place

Complete and maintain up to date:
  • Company job site procedures
  • Time sheets

Complete and verify the accuracy of the documentation associated with job sites:
  • Installation reports
  • Other reports as specified in the terms of the mandate
  • Project summaries

Verify the documentation to be done by the technicians:
  • Sensors details
  • Details of the configurations
  • Photos and time sheets
  • Instrumentation database



Mission planning 10%

Ensure understanding of the mandate in relation to the service being sold, in particular:
  • The client expectations
  • The technical design
  • Administrative and commercial constraints

Prepare the execution of missions with the team by assessing:
  • Health, safety and environmental challenges
  • The required knowledge
  • The material needs
  • TLgistical and cost constraints



R&D 5%

Participate in the testing and validation of new instruments and designs:
  • Suggest realistic test environments
  • Implement devices and designs

Document testing for related tax credits:
  • Compile photos, notes and results
  • Maintain up to date time sheets
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor\'s degree in mining, civil engineering or other relevant field
  • Minimum of 2 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in a similar position
  • Experience in instrumentation, automatization, telecommunications
  • Specific knowledge in the field of geotechnical instrumentation
  • Basic knowledge of electricity and programming
  • Basic knowledge in RS232/485/SDi-12/Wi-Fi/Radio
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite
