Your Opportunity

Our Kelowna office has an opportunity for a Junior Civil Engineer

The role of a Civil EIT is to work as a team member on small and large projects under the guidance of a Project Supervisor/ Engineer. The Civil EIT will work under close supervision of a Project Supervisor/ Engineer to develop skills in engineering services of water, wastewater, storm water and water resources projects.

A Civil EIT will perform a variety of tasks which may include assisting with the plans and designs of water, wastewater, storm water and water resources systems, coordination of simple tasks meeting attendance and recording monitor site activities, and contract administration. In general, the entry level position will assist more senior engineers/designers by performing the routine aspects of civil engineering assignments.

Your Key Responsibilities

This role will be supporting multi-disciplinary municipal civil projects, related to new build and infrastructure renewal, focused on water, wastewater, storm water and natural systems infrastructure.

Uses knowledge of the general concepts of relevant civil engineering elements including the design of water and wastewater systems, drainage, grading, and land development projects.

Assists team in preparing reports conducts basic calculations and performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.

Detailed studies and design tasks associated with water related projects including water, wastewater, storm water management as well as support on transportation projects.

Writing reports, design briefs and professional letters and emails.

Taking responsibility for the quality of your written, technical and graphic work, and for completing work on-time and on-budget.

Coordinating design drawings and specification development.

Attending internal, client and contactor meetings and documenting the meetings with minutes.

Contract Administration as required for a wide variety of construction projects.

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

Basic understanding of general concepts of relevant areas of civil design.

Proficient in Microsoft (MS) Office Suite.

Excellent team and communication skills

Basic understanding of AutoCAD Civil 3D and any other relevant design software and knowledge of calculations performed by the software.

Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks, responsibilities and projects and adjust to changing demands

Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering or related field & EIT. Co-op/Internship experience preferred but not required.

Minimum of 0-3 years of experience.

Registration with APEGA as a member in training, or eligible to register.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written, and ability to work in a team environment.

Commitment to thrive in a proactive organization where client service is second to none.

A strong knowledge of municipal infrastructure design and construction will be considered an asset. Previous experience working with municipalities will be considered an asset.

Working knowledge of various software for planning and design of facilities (AutoCAD, AutoCAD Civil 3D, ArcView GIS, PCSWMM, WaterCAD) will be considered an asset.

Typical office environment working with computers. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
