Fence Construction Lead/ Carpenter

Position summary

The

Fence Construction Lead/Carpenter

will lead all lumber fencing projects for the company. This opening is for a carpenter with a minimum of 5 years experience in complete end-to-end fence construction and landscaping. All potential candidates must have a valid G driver's license with clean driving record, personal hand tools (including a pouch, square, tape, etc.), construction safety protection gear (steel toe/plate boots, safety glasses and gloves). This individual must be prepared to work with little to no supervision in all weather conditions and manage assisting labourers to complete projects with attention to detail and efficiency.

Responsibilities:

Lead projects in the field, applying your quality construction expertise and skill. Supervise, inspire and lead labourers who will assist with installations. Read and interpret plans, drawings and sketches to calculate material requirements and prepare layouts using measuring tools, in accordance with building codes. Complete the installation of various styles of fencing including gates, aesthetic features and other landscape elements. Install or repair other landscape elements such as wood decks and patios, soil and mulch areas, planting and softscapes, stone-work (interlocking, pavers, natural stone). Measure, cut, and assemble lumber, and other materials. Operate small construction equipment safely and efficiently including mini skid steer and excavator and all power tools including mitre saw, table saw, handheld planer, drills, etc. Communicate clearly, effectively, and respectfully with clients while on the job. Purchase materials and manage inventory. Organize and maintain the installation vehicle.

Experience

You are a confident carpenter with significant experience using tools and machinery ranging from table saws, sliding miter saws, reciprocating saws, circular saws, drills, planers, and a wide variety of handheld and power tools specific to landscaping. You have a minimum of 5-years landscaping experience in fence and deck construction including experience in grading/leveling, removal and installation of turf/sod and stonework You have practical, hands-on experience with heavy machinery such as mini-excavators and mini skid steer with various attachments including material moving scoops, forks, and augers (Refreshers in model specific training will be available through the company).

Skills and Qualifications:

Valid G-class license and clean driving record is required. Able to operate a variety of vehicles with confidence, including towing trailers. Strong math skills relevant to carpentry and landscaping. Intermediate knowledge of technology and smart phone savvy. Experience with Google Suite (Drive, Sheets, Docs, Calendar, Maps) is a bonus Comfortable driving trucks with trailer attachments Must be reliable and punctual. References will be requested and checked. Must be legally eligible to work in Canada

Pay: $30.00-$35.00 per hour
