FAMILY THERAPY SERVICES - Clinician

The

FTS Clinician

is responsible for providing family centered therapy services, consultation, education, and supervision in a culturally sensitive and professionally responsible manner. Provides clinical assessments, therapy services, consultation, training and recommendations for staff, families and individuals supported. This could include recommendations for interventions.



Position details as follows:


We are currently looking for two (or more) Clinicians to fill a combined 56 hours per week. These positions may be filled by a combination of full-time and/or part-time positions, depending on the fit of the successful candidates. Full-time positions are based on 35 hours per week.

Related Responsibilities & Duties

:

Receives referrals for family therapy from the Family Therapy Services Intake team and conducts comprehensive assessments to determine potential needs. Completes intervention plans and reports based on needs and goals of families. Demonstrates awareness and knowledge of cultural diversity and engages in efforts to improve cultural equity and inclusion to effectively serve individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds. Demonstrates knowledge of Indigenous cultures and communities and integrates this knowledge into assessment, consultation, and support services. Demonstrates knowledge of various issues that may impact the families we support. This could include (but is not limited to): Family Systems, Child and Youth development, Gender-based Issues, Intellectual Disabilities, Fetal Alcohol Syndrome, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Sensory Needs, Assessment of Life Skills and Independence, and is able to apply this knowledge in a systemic conceptualization with recommendations for support. Provides trauma-informed, culturally sensitive and developmentally appropriate clinical supports to families (who are actively parenting children/youth under the age of 18 years) on the Family Therapy Services waitlist. Facilitates clinical groups for families. Develops and delivers training and workshops to other professionals on attachment, systems and trauma. Provides supervision and mentoring to practicum students in related clinical discipline(s) Works collaboratively with collaterals, community resources, and professionals from different disciplines to coordinate and establish effective services for families and care-providers. Demonstrates knowledge of and builds relationships with other community resources as required for connecting families to relevant supports. Provides clinical consultation and recommendations to New Directions staff and externals to strengthen and adequately support individuals and their families. Demonstrates a thorough understanding of, and commitment to ethical practice within a clinical setting. Reflects on and evaluates their own clinical practice (strengths and areas for development) through the ongoing supervisory process as a way of identifying areas for skill development. Maintains appropriate confidentiality. Initiates and engages in professional development. Maintains all required file recording, correspondence, completes all required assessment and intervention reports, documentation/case files, and organization required data and forms in a timely manner.

Qualifications

:

Master's degree in clinical field with training in family therapy (e.g., MMFT, MSW) or an equivalent advanced degree/certification in a related clinical discipline. Be certified to practice in their discipline within the Province of Manitoba, by being accredited by a Provincial or National licensing body associated with the clinical discipline and in good standing (e.g., AAMFT, CAMFT, MB College of Social Workers). The ability to facilitate family and community supports with a trauma-informed understanding of behaviors as adaptive coping responses and neurobiological patterns. An awareness of cross-cultural factors that impact the healing/recovery process, including inter-generational trauma and the impact of colonization on Indigenous and settler communities. Knowledge of attachment theory and related interventions as well as play-based interventions. Completion of the Circle of Security Parenting (COSP) Facilitator training and/or Theraplay training is an asset. Demonstrated knowledge of neurodiversity and skills to work with families and children with complex needs is an asset. Experience working with clients involved with multiple systems. Willingness to engage in community partnerships. Valid Class 5 Driver's License with access to a reliable vehicle for work purposes is an asset. Comfort in regular use of Microsoft Office products


The salary range for this position, for both full-time and part-time, is $36.95 to $45.81 per hour, dependent upon education and/or experience. A full benefits package (which includes Health and Dental Benefits and Long Term Disability Benefits) is provided for full-time, regular positions.



The successful candidate will be subject to Criminal Record, Child Abuse Registry, Adult Abuse Registry, and Prior Contact Checks. A satisfactory Driver's Abstract is also required.
