Family Support Worker

to join our team on a temporary basis to cover a maternity leave. This role involves providing direct support to families in our community, promoting positive parenting, conflict resolution, and life skills development. Working hours are flexible and determined in collaboration with clients to meet their needs.

Key Responsibilities:



Build and maintain professional, supportive relationships with families in alignment with program goals. Collaborate with clients to develop individualized, flexible, and proactive case plans that include clear and measurable goals. Provide support in areas such as parent/child or teen conflict and crisis intervention. Maintain a caseload with 50-70% of hours dedicated to direct client service, with a minimum of weekly client contact. Complete administrative duties including three-week assessments, progress reports, critical incident reports, monthly statistics, and discharge summaries. Collaborate with community agencies and resources to ensure integrated case management and effective client support.

Qualifications:



Education:

+ BSW and 3 years of related experience,

OR


+ College Diploma and 5 years of related experience,

OR


+ A combination of education and at least 7 years of experience in family support work.
Strong verbal and written communication skills that are clear, direct, and sensitive. Demonstrated experience in parent education, mediation, counselling, advocacy, community networking, and life skills development. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team and with external community resources.

Additional Requirements:



Must have access to a reliable vehicle and hold a valid BC Driver's License. Vehicle must be insured for business use with a minimum $3,000,000 liability. Must provide a satisfactory Criminal Record Check. A work cell phone will be provided.
