The Family Literacy Centre (FLC) is expanding our dynamic team. We\xe2\x80\x99re looking for a kind, energetic person to join us in providing quality family literacy programs to children and families across the Yukon. Job Summary: The FLC Program Coordinator works as part of the FLC team delivering play-based programs in the Family Literacy Centre, the Pioneer Hotel, the Gopher Literacy Bus, and rural community partner spaces. This position will be a 1-year term, with the possibility of becoming permanent. Duties Include:
  • Operations and upkeep of program spaces
  • Developing and facilitating indoor and outdoor play-based programs
  • Engaging children and families in a variety of learning opportunities
  • Travelling to rural Yukon communities for partner programs and events including traditional culture camps and gatherings
  • Assisting in the development of learning resources
  • Administrative tasks such as lesson planning, data intake, and social media
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Passion for play-based learning and working with families
  • Comfortable singing, dancing, and being silly
  • Reliable and flexible, with a strong work ethic
  • Can travel to the communities, sometimes overnight or during evenings and weekends
  • Available for rotating Saturday shifts, September through May
  • Able to thrive working both independently and as part of a team
  • Able to practice non-judgment and maintain professional boundaries
  • Can lift and carry 30+lbs
Required Training and Experience:
  • Training and/or experience in child development, education, early learning, social work or family literacy
  • Experience working with Yukon First Nations and other community partners
  • Standard First Aid and CPR-C or willingness to obtain
  • Valid Yukon Driver\xe2\x80\x99s license and access to vehicle
  • Clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector search
