Family Law ClerkConroy Scott LLP is seeking a confident, organized, motivated and self-starting Family Law Assistant/Clerk in our family law department. Key Responsibilities include:
Management of client files, including drafting of documents, letters, and emails;
Management of client communications i.e. emails and phone calls;
Filing appropriate documents at the courthouse;
Scheduling meetings between lawyers and clients;
Managing lawyer calendars and schedules;
Organization and maintenance of physical and electronic files;
Prepare reporting letters/accounts to clients, promptly following the completion of files;
Communicating with/updating clients;
Routine administrative duties;
Other responsibilities as assigned;
The successful candidate must demonstrate the following:
Completion of law clerk/legal assistant program or diploma is preferred;
The ability to be proactive, work ahead of schedule, meet strict deadlines and go the extra mile is essential;
Capable of taking direction and the ability to handle high conflict situations;
The ability to read and interpret the family law rules and regulations;
Detail-oriented with a positive outlook and strong time management skills;
Highly organized and strong attention to detail with the flexibility to accommodate work demands;
Ability to take initiative, prioritize and multitask;
Ability and desire to work independently, take responsibility for all work and manage multiple files;
Demonstrate good judgement and utmost professionalism at all times, and particularly when working under pressure;
Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and exercise discretion when necessary;
Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential;
Proficiency with Word, Excel and Microsoft Office. Experience working with Divorcemate and PC Law would be an asset;
Bilingualism would be considered an asset;
